Back before the first couple of patches, she only had the “sworn to carry your burdens” line. I don’t know at what point they patched in a couple of more lines.

Yeah, that sounds really familiar. I must admit, even though most of my almost 200 hours have been played with Lydia, I almost never talked to her. I didn’t even use her as a pack mule. I think she has different sayings for each menu item choice and that was one of them although I probably only heard it once many months ago and couldn’t tell you if/when it changed.

I have heard her use that line in the PC version.
One reason I don’t use Lydia much anymore is her annoying attitude. She is one whiney woman. The sword maiden of Solitude is much less whiney.
I honestly don’t like having companions at all, as I tend to light them on fire. :/

I have had to re-load several times after dragon attacks inside a city. The minute you “accidently” hit a town person the whole town tries to kill you. Damn ungrateful of them if you ask me.
GAWD I hate that. Freaking ingrates.
Hey, has anyone else had it happen that a follower (in this case good ol’ Lydia) grabs a weapon out of a chest spontaneously and starts using it? I was doing the first big dungeon quest in the Companions questline, we got to the last room where you have to get the artifact, and before grabbing said artifact I had unlocked a chest in the room, but had left a couple of enchanted weapons in there, including a staff of lightning bolt, because I was almost at my weight limit. Anyway, once I grabbed the artifact or learned the dragon shout at the word wall (whatever the triggering event is) and all hell started breaking loose, I noticed lightning bolts flying around. After the battle, I looked in Lydia’s inventory and she had the staff. I was impressed, since I have no memory of having given it to her before the battle.
I do have the UFO: Ultimate Follower Overhaul mod installed, though. Maybe that allows it.

I’m playing with my kids basically going wherever and doing whatever they want. Right now our goal is to save Lucia (orphan child in Whiterun) from life on the streets.
Anyway we built our house, added a bedroom wing, and installed a child’s bed and chest. But when I try to adopt her I still get the ‘I have a house but no room for you’ option.
What else do we need to do?
Awww, hope it’s not a bug. All I can tell you for sure is that if you get the “official” house in Whiterun (can’t remember its name offhand) by completing the relevant MQ bit, and kit it out with a bedroom, Lucia will definitely hop and skip over to there.

I’m pretty sure he’s talking about the hearthfire DLC, completely unrelated to whiterun and the main quest. Kids are only able to be adopted into that DLCs house, not any of the houses in the cities.

Yes, I am talking about the Hearthfire DLC.
If you have Hearthfire, the kids can also be adopted to a city house too (certainly the one in Whiterun), if you want. I’ve done it.

Damn, I now got the house in Whiterun, furnished it with a child’s room and still getting dialog option ‘I have a home, but no room for you.’
I guess my game is broken somehow. I wonder if there is a way to fix it via console. My daughter is very concerned about the little orphan in the street. She now wants to follow her at night to see where she is staying.

I think you have to be married and own a house in order to adopt.
BTW - The Skyrim official soundtrack by Jeremy Soule is finally available digitally on iTunes and Amazon.

Do you have chests in the kids bedroom? I got the same message until I put the correct furniture in the kid’s bedroom. Also, I have Lucia in my house in Falkreath - she commented how pretty the lake is. ;) Just also adopted a big brother for her. Amazing how, if you are role playing, having a home with a couple of kids (and I have Mjoll, my wife, retired and staying at the house with them - sexist, perhaps, but someone has to fight off the giants and take care of them while I’m roaming the world!) can add another dimension. In addition to gold and dragon souls I now also am always on the lookout for a kid’s toy. ;)

Yeah, I got a child’s dresser there. Maybe is the wife thing. How do I get married?

I play Skyrim to get away from the wife and kids.
If you get married send the kids out of the room for the honeymoon cutscene. (just kidding).
How do I get married?
I believe you have to start by finding the “love” stone or something like that. I think it is in the SW part of the map somewhere.
Go to the temple in Riften.
You need to wear the Amulet of Mara and talk to NPCs. If they’re coded to be a potential spouse, a dialog will come up.
