Not regularly, but I did have this happen once, if that’s the kind of effect you mean. Damn creepy kids…

Is it weird that I really want to try a Mammoth Cheese bowl in real life?

I do. What does it taste like? I’m curious.

The favorite/shortcut system is being a pain in the ass for me, using a “jack of all trades” character. I need twice the shortcuts. Perhaps 1-8 and shift or control 1-8. My character uses shields, swords, maces, bows, magical staff, around 4-5 spells, and there is a ton of potions and food I have to use from my inventory because it would be horrible to assign them to shortcuts. And I don’t have shouts yet!

Thats just how I would have done it in Oblivion, but thats because Oblivion encouraged a one-character-does-it-all build.

In Skyrim, no matter how many levels you get, you’re never going to be able to put perks into all skills, so why keep leveling?

Instead of spending time grinding Stealth and Archery on your Knight character, why not start the game again with a dedicated Stealth Archer? That way you get to use the perks in those skills in addition to raising them.

I’m not saying you’re playing wrong. If you’re really attached to your current character then go ahead, have fun. I’m just saying you might have more fun if you explore all the perk trees over 3 characters, rather than creating one mega character.

Also the first shout you get that stumbles opponents interrupts spellcasting

Who’s Margery? :D

All joking aside, I know where you are coming from. I love my stealthy archer and she’s far from done with the main quest and hasn’t even started the Stormcloaks, but I’m itching to roll a mage.
Normally I would do so on a second playthough, but last night I actually rolled a Breton mage on a second xbox account. The plan is to swap between them and do different factions and quests with each.

And I’m thinking of rolling a Redguard paladin with heavy armor, shield, blunt and restoration too, sigh.
Like you, I never play multiple characters in an RPG at the same time, but there’s just something about this game that makes me want to do it all.

The amount of content is almost terrifying. I have tried walking from A to B but always get distracted by ruin X, bandit fortress Y or side quest Z. Did some dwarf ruin last night with a neat story that took me about an hour. So much for following the greybeard’s orders today!

Bought a couple of grand soul gems as well. I can now start building a few resist items on my full Orc plate. Juggling what to do about swords now. Decided capturing every soul was kind of pointless. Only need a few petty ones for fuel and practice and top-ups and then grand ones for max %. Made me an Orcish sword of fireyness (33 +16, that is quite a bonus). Guess I will keep the other sword for when I need souls. Might give the empty grand ones to the Viking wench who follows me until I need them filled with a

Mammoth

soul.

Also, damn iPhone spelling!

I suggest getting the Black Star

wah?

(reusable black soul gem) from the Azura shrine quest line

as early as possible if you are at all into enchanting (and who isn’t?).

Still not that far in the game, so perhaps I haven’t stumbled on it yet, but where/how do I get ore for Elven- and Glass armor? Is it mineable like iron/steel, or is it more like dwarven metal that needs to be smelted?

Also: does chopping wood actually amount to something other then an overloaded backpack?

About the elven and glass stuff:

ores

Both Elven and Glass use the same ore:

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Moonstone_Ore

that entry also has info on where to mine it.

As for the wood, you can always sell it to the lumbermills or other traders for cash so it’s basically a no-effort way of getting money.

Sell wood to mill owners. (5 gold a piece, it’s really just a way to build up gold in the early game)

Ore;

Ugh, is this really a spoiler?

Elven is moonstone ore -> refined moonstone, and glass is malachite ore -> refined malachite. Both are mineable.

You know you want it:

TAMRIEL: TOTAL WAR

Where do you actually go to chop wood? Are there designated areas to interact with? I haven’t noticed them. I assume you need a woodcutter’s axe.

I’ve operated a mill and done all the other crafting and mining. I feel like I’m missing out on the wood chopping.

All this talk about mining ore and selling wood to mill owners rather makes me think of the Anno and Settlers series. :p

There are stumps surrounded by chopped logs. If you have a woodcutter’s axe, you can chop logs there (it’s automatic, you chop three logs per go (= 30 gold) and there’s infinite wood).

That’s for people that that still play WoW.

Does anyone know why some trainer NPCs lose the option to train? For example the elf in the starter town trained archery. Now that dialog has gone away. I might consider the fact that I am beyond his training level, however, I have seen other NPCS with that dialog option that simply tell me I am beyond their level.

I’ve noticed that some NPCs have different dialogue options depending on the time of day and where they’re located. Maybe ask again at a different time or location?

spoilery

Did you do the love triangle quest in Riverrun and sided with Sven the bard? If so that might be the reason, if not, well, might be a bug.
