Not sure why the 08-09 drop is depressing. The economy was still shrinking in 1Q09.
Democrats really are more in tune with actual reality rather than tribal loyalty and wishful thinking. I know, how elitist of me, right? But we’re capable of holding in our heads two thoughts, such as, “we have a terrible president” and “the economy is still doing well.”
They believe it’s still the Obama economy. It will start dropping in a year.
I do agree the Dem focus should be on persuadables, especially millenials- once you get them to start voting they’ll start to like to vote. Give them something to vote for.
Good lord, he’s STILL talking about the election.
They aren’t wrong. I’m assuming Trump is only helping their recruitment numbers.

It would be funnier if our President didn’t value Alex over NSB’s.
No doubt I am a terrible person for my wicked belief that people who openly engage in spite, hatred, and willful stupidity should be mocked and scorned rather than coddled and tucked into bed with a glass of warm milk and a cookie. But I still found this funny:
In the shadow of the old flag factory, Craig Slabornik sits whittling away on a rusty nail, his only hobby since the plant shut down. He is an American like millions of Americans, and he has no regrets about pulling the lever for Donald Trump in November — twice, in fact, which Craig says is just more evidence of the voter fraud plaguing the country…
Claudia Barknappen, the owner of the diner, wipes her hands on her faded God Bless America Apron. She is taken aback to see that Trump’s budget would replace her home with a sinkhole, but she says that she is reserving judgment and likes how much he hates immigrants. “We’ve got to give him a chance,” she observes. She says that one time Trump showed up at her home and hit her dog with a broom, but in her mind this amounts to no more than one strike. She knows that she can change Trump with love, not that he needs to change at all. Behind her, an eagle falls out of a tree and dies.
(Footnote: This is not a real, factual, article. It is a pretend, made-up article, what people in the Before Time used to call “satire.” I mention this because these days only trained experts can tell the difference.)

Good luck, gents. It’s been a fun ride.
Sucks for me, I’ll probably be just outside of the local blast radii.
The incompetence of this Administration is head-in-hands STAGGERING. They send the no-experience son-in-law and Trump’s old personal bodyguard (who wore a fucking track suit) to negotiate with the Iraqis about the future role of the US in Iraq, not, you know, a high level person from State at least. Jesus, we’re doomed.

Probably because State right now is roughly 3 people.
Not only that- an adidas track suit- they really don’t know how to avoid the Russian goon influence.
(Adidas tracksuits are the preferred wear of Russian mobster footsoldiers)
As someone who has seen plenty of balding, middle-age Russian guys in Adidas track suits in the Russian part of San Fran, I can totally confirm.

Because who doesn’t want lead poisoning to make a comeback?
They are just trying to shift cost from Federal to State, because they are responsible for Federal.
The problem is that the states may not pick up the slack.
In one sense, I like this. Too many voters vote and think they will feel no economic consequences. If the states do pick up the slack and raise taxes (now that I write this, what am I thinking?), voters might see that their votes have consequences.

Mate I don’t know what you’re thinking either! Voters getting their just desserts will not lead to a more rational outcome. You guys just went through an election where because your government allowed inequality to reach disastrous levels the voters… elected an uber-rich businessman who promised to cut taxes and regulations? That can’t be right.
In this case, some kids will die from lead paint poisoning that was imported from overseas and the scandal on FOX news will be on the dangers of Chinese products, “more on how to protect your family at 11”. Some smart guy with a beard will be pointing out Trump’s decision to remove the EPA program and the Republican-controlled states never got around to filling the hole, but it will be on a channel no Trump supporter watches.

It’s almost as if federal programs exist for a reason.
