Ignoring this fine but very important point is the the only way they can continue trying to support Nazis but still hold a white flag and claim they don’t really like Nazis.

Fuck you. That is totally out of line.

Let’s get real here. Do I need to show you the lines of naked starving children this group gassed. The endless lines of men, women and children they lined up and murdered. There are hundreds of photos we can use to remind us what the Nazis did.

This is not some sort of alt right group with a strong opinion. This is an organization run via advocating genocide, the mass murder of all none whites and any whites they don’t like. We’re still hunting down some of these people for War Crimes.

And let’s not forget, talking to them and watching was tried before… it largely gave us WW2 (I am aware of the other issues in Germany at the time). You cannot reason with Nazis.

We tried that and this is where it got us.

$0.02: punching Nazis is a silly, meaningless gesture. The proper response to them should be far more extreme and effective.

This whole conversation here has just completely confirmed for me a belief I have held for a while now; the “slippery slope” argument is completely daft and logically bankrupt.

At first they came for the Nazis, and I cheered because they were fucking Nazis.
The end.

Except this is exactly what we have been doing for years now. We’ve even stepped up to them and yelled in their faces, daring them to throw the first punch. We’ve been smart, we’ve been trashy, we’ve been crafty, we’ve been mocking and scornful…

…and the end result is that they know the protections they enjoy thanks to civilized society’s rules, they use them mercilessly to their advantage. They long ago stopped fearing violent reprisals. They take every opportunity to push right up against every boundary in an effort to win what they see as a war to survive. When you live in a civilized first world society and you feel your ideology is so reviled that you think you’re in a war against the rest of society, chances are very good there is something inherently wrong and dangerous about your ideology. It’s not just socially unacceptable, it’s evil.

But because we stand by idly wringing our hands and bemoaning the irreparable damage to our society should we condone punching evil squarely in the face…evil is winning. Look no further than Bannon, Sessions and Miller…all champions of the alt-right, all in positions of incredible power, all very dangerous…

…and all worthy of punching in the face. Repeatedly.

It’s not about punching someone because we disagree with them. It’s about that someone taking actions and espousing ideals that are so vile, so against everything our society stands for, that the only equal reaction to their actions is equally vile. Punch. Face. Repeat.

I’m more in favor of doxxing Nazis than punching them. Don’t get me wrong…I’m not necessarily opposed philosophically to punching alt-righters, but there seems to be little they hate more than having their names out in public.

The thing is though, it’s not… because Spencer is fucking afraid to go out in public now.

That’s good.

I think it’s totally consistent to believe that what is morally right should not necessarily be legislated.

I don’t think it’s ‘right’ a culture encourages women to cover themselves in a full-body veil, for instance. In fact, I think it’s wrong. But I’d fight pretty hard against that ever being legislated. Legally enforcing what people wear? Eugh. The law by virtue of practicality if nothing else needs to be significantly different from an ‘ick’ list.

But there’s also the fact that there’s a whole bunch of different principles in conflict here. I think it’s right that evil should be directly confronted. I also think it’s right we live in a civil society that doesn’t go around solving problems with violence.

So yeah, I can get behind this: it’s right to punch Nazis, but it should never legal and you should be stopped arrested for it.

You missed the really sexy part of his sentence, @Timex.

This works for me as well, and as a bonus my arm will be far less tired and my knuckles unbruised. Compromise! I love America!

It’s not all alt-righters… Nazis. I threw in the KKK because that group wants to kill me, because of my race, too (not the only reason), but this discussion is largely focused on actual, self-proclaimed and proud Nazis.

Let’s see. Because I have a problem understanding physical violence against anyone I obviously support Nazi’s. Sure…logical.

Or you apparently.

You can stand by and debate while they line up millions to be murdered. I’ll not watch history repeat itself.

edited: for a bit more civility

You say potato. Let’s refine it, then, to “spouters of eliminationist rhetoric”.

What’s all this shades of grey bullshit?

Q. What do you do with folks who espouse racial purification, racial genocide, enforced authoritarianism, and proclaim Wagner as “like the best composer ever”?

A. You do not punch them. You line them up against a wall, and shoot them.

There is no room for bleeding-heart liberalism and humanism here, only hard-core common sense. You don’t diddle cancer, or try to get it to “see things another way”. You dose that shit with chemo, radiation, and excise that shit.

A problem understanding. Okay, that happens. Here’s a spectrum of confrontational scenarios; please tell me at what point you could understand a response of physical violence. Mind, not necessarily agree to use it, but at least understand it.

When a person …
states they’re going to kill you and your family right now
states they’re planning to kill you and your family at some point
states they want to kill you and your family
states they want someone to kill you and your family and will work toward that goal
states they will personally make you and your family suffer
states they want someone to make you and your family suffer and will work toward that goal
states they want you and your family to burn in hell
states they want you and your family to suffer
.
.
.
states Deus Ex wasn’t a great game
.
.
.
states sincerely they want you and your family to have a wonderful day and then gives you flowers and apple pie to share
" " … with ice cream

Anything?

Tolerance is a peace treaty; it’s not an obligation to commit suicide. If you have people advocating genocide, you punch them in their fucking faces.

Maybe not on their way home from the grocery store, but in front of cameras, talking the shite they talk? Hell yes.
