To each their own. I found it humorously on the nose.
The point is, we’ll never move ahead as a nation if we keep following a failed candidate. It’s time to think about Sanders 2020.
I’ve literally seen similar sentiments expressed unironically.
TheHill: DeVos calls protests ‘a badge of honor’
Speaking in Denver at the American Legislative Exchange Council’s (ALEC) annual meeting, DeVos mentioned the “excitement” caused by hundreds of protesters gathered outside the event but said she considers their demonstrations a “badge of honor.”
“This advocacy has led to some… let’s call it… “excitement” on the Left,” DeVos said Wednesday according to a transcript of her speech.
“You’re certainly no strangers to organized protests by defenders of the status quo. But, it’s the first time in recent history I’ve been to an event where the protesters aren’t necessarily here just for me!”
“But I consider the “excitement” a badge of honor, and so should you,” DeVos told the ALEC attendees. “Our opponents, the defenders of the status quo, only protest those capable of implementing real change. You represent real change.”
Trump Administration Preparing Texas Wildlife Refuge for First Border Wall Segment [Texas Observer]
For at least six months, private contractors and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials have been quietly preparing to build the first piece of President Trump’s border wall through the Santa Ana Wildlife Refuge in South Texas. The federally owned 2,088-acre refuge, often called the “crown jewel of the national wildlife refuge system,” could see construction begin as early as January 2018, according to a federal official who has been involved in the planning but asked to remain anonymous.
“This should be public information,” the official told the Observer. “There shouldn’t be government officials meeting in secret just so they don’t have to deal with the backlash. The public has the right to know about these plans.”
CBP plans to construct an 18-foot levee wall that would stretch for almost three miles through the wildlife refuge, according to the official. The structure would consist of a concrete base, which would serve as a levee, and be topped with a fence made of steel bollards, similar to a levee wall built almost a decade ago near Hidalgo, Texas. A second federal official confirmed these details to the Observer.
On Friday afternoon, several workers were drilling into the existing earthen levee on the wildlife refuge and extracting soil samples to prepare for the construction. A security guard watching over the site asked me to leave when I started asking questions. Engineers from Michael Baker International, a global engineering firm, have been attending meetings on the project, according to the federal official.
A fun little historical retrospective on POTUSs that didn’t win the popular vote, and their struggles.
Since 1992, GOP presidential candidates have won the popular vote once - 2004. Add the structural advantages of the Senate (rural states vs urban states), the 2010 hyper partisan gerrymandering and subsequent voting suppression, we are effectively ruled* by a minority party.
*The correct word, since Republicans have all but abandoned democratic norms and procedures.

“I think the C.E.O. of Carrier and Trump was in bed together the whole time,” she said. “That day Trump came to Carrier, those two were too chummy. The way they sniggled and giggled. That sneaky kind of sh*t-eating grin.”
Sadly, this is nothing new. I talk to people here all the time who think Trump is a big phony and not very bright, but they voted for him anyway because the alternative was “Killary”.
It’s nuts. You have Trump voters who dislike him but just had to vote pro-life. You have Trump voters who dislike him but just had to vote pro-guns. You have Trump voters who dislike him but just had to vote pro-small business. And you have Trump voters who dislike him but voted for him because their only source of political input is Conservative Media and their Facebook echo chamber both of which are vehemently anti-Obamacare and anti-Hillary. The number of Trump voters who voted for him despite not liking him because REASONS seems to dwarf the number of Trump voters who actually were happy to vote for the guy.
How do we even get to a point like that? This is what partisan politics does, you end up voting for someone you don’t even want in office because you are too afraid of losing to the other side.
I’m not sure that’s partisan politics so much as it is single-issue politics.
Also I think it’s interesting how issues get forced into these ideological ‘team membership’ bundles.
My current bugaboo is climate change. It shouldn’t be a left/right issue. I can’t imagine any sane person actually thinking it’s a bad thing to preserve the long-term habitability of the planet. Of course the science can (and should) always be debated, and of course the cost/benefit of proposed solutions can (and should) be debated, but if it’s not a good faith debate driven by a disinterested desire for the truth and for real solutions, then it becomes pretty pointless.
So now millions and millions of people instinctively object to any argument that maybe we should try to avoid environmental catastrophe, because it’s been ‘bundled in’ to their team membership and they will use any cognitive shortcut (e.g. denying there is a problem in the first place) to maintain their inner rationalization.
Often though, single issue politics exists as a direct result of partisan politics. Take the abortion issue for example. It’s not like every Democrat in the country is clamoring for abortion to replace the pill, IUDs and condoms as the new face of American birth control. The vast majority of average people would love to see abortion used only as a method of last resort, and would rather see the segment of the population at risk for unwanted pregnancy that leads to having to make the choice reduced to next to nothing through access to education, consultation and proper health care. But Conservatives have made it a “Team Issue”. If you love unborn babies, your ass better vote Republican!
Guns are another perfect example. No Democratic candidate in history has proclaimed on campaign that “If elected I will create a federal task force whose sole purpose will be to come to the home of every American and take away their guns!”. That’s ridiculous, and yet again Conservative Media and the NRA have made the Second Amendment their “Team Issue”. Vote Republican, or you are a gun-hating snowflake!
Single issue politics is a direct result of years of partisan bullshit. Complex but satisfying compromises exist that would make nearly everyone happy on such issues, and yet we will never explore them because our politics has devolved into “Us vs. Them” instead of “We the People”.

I feel like I’ve read about Tillerson considering a move before. Like last month or something?

How can Tillerson quit? How is he supposed to approve more arctic oil exploitation deals with the Russians if he quits? That way lies a polonium tea party.
