Of all the species we human beings have wiped out in the last four decades, it’s the extinct “mainstream republican” that will be the most mourned.

Ah, the world we live in now.

Over in ‘Wisdoms and Aphorisms’ MrGrumpy posted a real example of a potential conflict of interest arising from Trump refusing to divest from his business holdings.

I trust Trump’s moral compass will guide him on the right path in the Malaysia troubles.

I’m sure he sees it as opportunity to get some grafting tips.

MDB1 is very high profile, with lots of information in the public domain, and active investigations in the US. Protocol would always put the President at arms length from these governments before the US went to shit.

Long piece in the Atlantic on trump and the inevitable consequences of his election that will ripple long after he is gone:

At this point in the singular Trump presidency, we can begin to assess its impact on American democracy. The news thus far is not all bad. The Constitution’s checks and balances have largely stopped Trump from breaking the law. And while he has hurt his own administration, his successors likely won’t repeat his self-destructive antics. The prognosis for the rest of our democratic culture is grimmer, however. Trump’s bizarre behavior has coarsened politics and induced harmful norm-breaking by the institutions he has attacked. These changes will be harder to undo.

Trump, in short, is wielding a Soprano touch on American institutions. “I’m fucking King Midas in reverse here,” Tony Soprano once told his therapist. “Everything I touch turns to shit.”

I think I am getting on board with Trump’s wall.

There are so many people bucking for the position of “first against the wall” that we’ll need a big-ass wall.

But… but… she apologized about being out of touch and insulting that commoner calling her out! And now we find out it was all a load of shit? Shocking!!

Just got a NYT news alert: Pelosi and Schumer have made a deal with Trump to protect young dreamers, but with no border wall. Increased money for border security, though.

I bet that deal is going to make Paul Ryan very popular with his conference.

House is leaving tomorrow? Didn’t they just get back in session?

Yep. And back in recess for a week or so.

We need to rename the Office of Government Ethics now:

What Mr Wilson said

Christ, Coulter needs to stop with the anti-Trump tweets or I may wind up voting for him in 2020.
