Yup, that cartoon is exactly the tack that needs to be followed to get Bannon out of the White House. Push the memes that Bannon is really President, that Bannon is getting credit for Trump’s “successes” and Trump is stuck with the blowback for Bannon’s failures (if it weren’t for Bannon’s EOs, people would be marching in the streets in support of Trump, etc.)

Donnie’s fragile ego won’t let him be seen as Bannon’s puppet, or take the fall for Bannon’s unpopularity. Keep it up and at some point Bannon will be wished into the cornfield.

Word is that there’s an executive order in the pipeline to legalize discrimination against the LGBTQ community and another to stop the H1-B visa program.

No no don’t be crazy Trump held a rainbow flag one time so it doesn’t matter that he’s surrounded himself with apocalypse-level monstrosities like Bannon and Pence, he totally loves and respects gay people!

Remember this?

“But Trump is going to be an advocate of the LGBT! He may have Pence as his VP, but that’s not him! Trump will stand up for LGBT rights!”

I clearly do, @Telefrog, thanks for asking :P

Look at that facial expression. He’s super-sincere about it.

NO ONE IS MORE SINCERE THAN TRUMP HIS SINCERENESS IS OFF THE CHARTS SCIENCE CAN’T EVEN FATHOM HIS SINCERES.

MAGAAAAAAA

*weeps uncontrollably*

If only Abed had caught the die and stopped Jeff from creating The Darkest Timeline.

Come on, guys. He’s holding the flag upside down which is the international signal for “this don’t mean shit”.

This picture of Trump showed up on my Twitter feed just now.

What sort of executive order could have such scope? Will they using the recent precedent of federal non-enforcement of drug laws to just not enforce current non discrimination laws?

What would Trump/Bannon gain by such an order (specifically the LGBTQ order).

Regarding the rumors of legalizing discrimination – I have no idea what the justification is. I can see them lumping the H1-B ban under the other immigration umbrella and selling it to supporters as freeing up jobs for Americans.

Under the auspices of protecting religious freedom, undoing the rules Obama put in place to prevent federal employees from discriminating against LGBT.

As to what they would gain? Creating dissent and division, perhaps? Carrying us further down a slippery slope towards a nation where only certain groups are tolerated? And they frame it in such a way that most republicans are unlikely to object to it.

Or perhaps as cover for an even more monstrous misdeed they are planning.

I can easily see them passing the LGBT executive order under the same auspices as North Carolina. They parse it as legislation that protects religious freedom and the rights of business owners not to be forced to take on clients/customers whose lifestyles directly contradict their own religious values.

Here’s the thing about stuff like the Immigration Ban, an LGBT discrimination repeal, abortion ban, etc., you can word these things so that they are very open to interpretation. The majority of this country is either stupid, lazy or both (as is evidenced by our current political situation), so they’re going to interpret the orders in the way that is the most simple to absorb and act on for them. We’re already seeing it in the Immigration EO, as police and agents at airports are refusing to allow attorneys to see detained travelers and instead moving them off site. The EO may have been intended to allow people with green cards, already issued visas and whatever through, but the simplest and easiest interpretation of it is “grab and hold all Moozlims comin’ from 'dese here countries” and that is what is being done. An EO allowing businesses to turn away LGBT clients at their discretion for religious reasons will be interpreted as “LGBT people are bad and evil, we should shun them and run them out of town immediately”.

Steve Bannon and company KNOW this. I suspect the whole plan is to use shit like this to sow chaos and unrest so they can quietly go after anyone in the Federal Government who would be opposed to them eventually issuing some sort of martial law based on a national crisis of unrest. Then it’s jackboots in the streets and an EO proclaiming Pence a traitor and naming National Security Advisor Steve Bannon as the new VP, a fragile heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Far-fetched right? But then again, how far-fetched is anything right now?

The speed and audacity of this really does seem to be more about poking the hive than putting forward coherent policy initiatives. I hope Bannon isn’t some kind of 3D chessmaster, but if he is, we may be pretty fucked…

He’s a student of history. He knows a blitzkreig of audacious attacks on institutions cannot be countered by a slow, heretofore lazy political system. He knows people are energized politically but have no means of turning that energy into action fast enough and spontaneous enough to challenge him. He knows that political norms are by convention more than by jure and that he can exploit these until the system walks into the abyss. And he knows that the very action of revolution is revolutionizing and will generate supporters. Notice all the Democratic votes for Trump appointees. By the time they notice it isn’t business as usual it’s too late.

I really am starting to feel like Bannon really is A Bad Guy on historic levels. Someone who wants to be feared rather than loved.

Well he’s openly compared himself to Darth Vader, no? As though it were a good thing?
