Looks like a modestly budgeted big-screen version of Heroes.
I thought this thread was gonna be about fire.
Hoping for Wanted, expecting Jumper.
To be clear, I’m one of the crazies that really liked Wanted, so that’s the good-but-unlikely outcome.
edit: And I think it’s actually next week.
The look of it appeals to me, but I’m not optimistic about the plot.
The director, Paul McGuigan, talked about filming in Hong Kong and using more wire work than CGI.
This alone appeals to me:
Another way the film strives for realism: it establishes very clear rules about what people can do with their powers, and then sticks to them very carefully. At the start of the movie, the super-powered characters aren’t very good at using their powers, but they get better as the film goes along, and that’s a big part of the movie’s arc. “You can’t change the rules because it suits you,” says McGuigan. “You just can’t make them up as you go along, because people like you will fucking crucify us.”
Schmidt has said exactly what I’m thinking: hoping for a movie like Wanted (I watched Wanted on Blu-Ray twice within a little over a week of getting it) but not expecting much. Wanted entertained me and if a movie can entertain, I can overlook the problems.
I won’t be seeing it in theatres, though. I rarely go to the theatre since I upgraded my home system. Too many movies have been degraded because of a poor theatre experience (mostly due to other people).
