Hardened criminals like DJT never stop crimin’.
He never did post before it went under, did he?
Well we can look forward to them making a similar generous offer to the current sitting president, right?
None of these people understand how the Internet works, do they?
(Though the article doesn’t discuss the monetary terms of the deal and how much the Trump Organization would have paid for the 40% stake. It’s possible Parler understood the Internet very well: dump the stock for your startup with a dubious business model on a sucker and move on.)
It’s Trump, he wasn’t going to pay anything.
At least this trash is off twitter for good.

What a strange coincidence that Twitter was able to rapidly identify and remove these pieces of garbage over the last month.
The problem of “how do I stop people going down conspiracy and radical rabbit holes” was infinitely easier once Twitter accepted the loss of users from just filling in the holes.
5 weeks ago Twitter permanently suspended Donald Trump’s twitter account. Twitter stock fell 2-3 dollars, from $51 to $48 per share in the immediate aftermath, and stayed in the $48 range for the next week or so.
Twitter stock is now above $72/share.
If the company needs to feel emboldened about continuing to take a firmer hand at moderation, well, they’ve got some ammo for doing so now.

LOL that’s awesome. If you were to only judge by sites like patriots dot win (where thedonald dot win migrated), you would think that Twitter was on its deathbed.
I have to be very careful about what I say regarding the stock market for reasons. And so what I’m posting should NOT be taken as a recommendation to take any action whatsoever on this or any stock. I know nothing. I have no investment insights whatsoever. Full disclaimer. Don’t listen to me at all, and this is no endorsement of any action. Seriously.
But this tells a story in the short term:

That was Trump’s thing. Anything he didn’t like was failing, going under or whatever.
Is Parler back to being fully functional? That’s fairly surprising.
Parler said its site is available this week only to users who already had accounts. New users, on the other hand, will be able to sign up next week. While existing users can now log in to Parler, their old posts have been removed from the site
So, no data migration, but they’re standing up a new instance of probably a pretty standard Twitter implementation.

Facebook has shut down all accessing and sharing of news in all of Australia:
Fake news and conspiracy rants remain open to like or share, a spokesman is reported to have said.

Sure would have been helpful if that article made more than cryptic references to the “code” that’s the entire reason this is happening.

Sorry, it’s writing for an Australian audience where this has been a big news item for the last few months. I posted about it upthread but it seems that was many many posts ago.
Here’s a summary:
