One of SCA’s officers near the top of the food chain has been charged with molesting children at sleepover events.
Benjamin Schragger was known as Lord Ben the Steward at “The Farm,” a peaceful retreat where children gathered for sleepovers and re-enacted medieval history under Schragger’s supervision.
That serenity was shattered when Schragger, 42, was charged with abusing children, allegations that are fragmenting parents and alumni from the Society for Creative Anachronism into camps of support and outrage.
Prosecutors say Schragger abused 10 children, ages 7 to 14, from June 1999 to August this year. He faces charges ranging from indecent assault to rape.
Ugh. Might that he be verily and swiftly run through with a sword, after a stave be taken heartily upon his privates.
Guys like that are going to make people think the SCA is full of weirdos.
Don’t worry, people already think the SCA is full of weirdos.
Sounds just like the boyscouts…

Hear that sound? That’s sarcasm whooooshing over Brad’s head…
Seems like perfectly normal behavior for the middle ages, if you’re going to go SCA, you have to go all the way in.
That serenity was shattered when Schragger, 42, was charged with abusing children… ranging from indecent assault to rape.
…acts which will henceforth be known as “Schragging”.
