It’s 26 sequential shots of a solo player going on a monster hunt. The graphics look pretty amazing, but there’s no way to tell what the animation is like or what system they were running. Still, they manage to show off some stuff like the ability to twist your torso to fire behind you while you run away. Pretty cool. And the graphics really do look pretty amazing.
Hmm, anyone know how that works? Do you suddenly hit a mouselook key that lets you maintain your direction while twisting based off of the mouse? Like the standard FPS tactic of maintaining forward movement while typing a team message?
Or is this not a regular 1st/3rd person style action control at all?
The closing caption is also quite hilarious, suggesting that after killing about 10 kaadu, it’s been a “successful night” and you’ll “look forward to your next hunt.” Just think, your character may actually increase in level, and learn a new skill by Christmas. 2004.
No no, my favorite is: I take the time to dress the carcass for its meat.
What they mean is: Double click corpse, click ‘Take All’
What they say: I’m wounded and worn out, so I consider whether or not I should make an attempt at finishing off the herd. Things are going well, so I decide that this herd is going down!
What they mean: Shit, my health bar is down to 50. Better open a book while my character sits on her ass, so I can kill the rest of the herd and move that fucking experience bar at least one pixel.
It’s obvious none of you played UO enough, because “dressing a carcass” involved a lot more than double-clicking and hitting ‘Take All’.
What you really think they mean is this:
-double click on dagger
-click on carcass (human corpse)
-double click on carcass (human corpse)
-drag meat from carcass to backpack
-use dagger on tree (produces kindling)
-put kindling on ground
-double click kindling to light it into a fire
-double click human meat and single click fire
-Success! I have created Human Jerkie!
