I really wanted the game Lap Dance to be a worker placement game. But unfortunately, it appears to be a simple dice game. When will game designers realize that people really do want a worker placement style board game set in the world of high class strip joints???

Agreed, but it better have stripper pole meeples.

My copy of Galaxy Defenders from the recent expansion Kickstarter arrived. Eager to get to check it out. This is just the base game and the Elite Alien Army expansion as funded by the original project, mind you. The new toys won’t be shipping for a while yet.

tragedy looper novelty or good game?

Tragedy Looper was a very good experience. It is limited to how many scenarios are written (ten at the moment), though a friend who owns it told me there are instructions to create your own scenarios (and one expansion pack out in Japan).

I strongly suggest to try the game out at least once. You will either love it or hate it. If you like thinking things through, mystery type games definitely try it. It will take a bit to get your head around it but once you do it was a ton of fun.

I also think the people you play with can have a strong effect on the game - so try to play with people who like mystery type games as well.

It is very cooperative and it can depend on how much you are allowed to talk to each other.

On the other hand if you like knowing what is going to happen and mess with people than play the mastermind! :)

The buzz I’ve been hearing is super positive and the example play by post game I read was really neat. Also, there’s actually five expansions out in Japan, per my understanding. Hopefully we’ll eventually see them.

Sigh…I couldn’t resist. I just ordered the Pathfinder Skull and Shackles card game base set. In my defense, it dropped down suddenly to 35 bucks on Amazon (it was up in the 40 dollar range last I looked) and with my free prime shipping…well…I’m only human.

Of course, I’m only 1 adventure pack into the 6 I own for the other base set.

You know what? I’m looking at it this way: when I retire someday, I’ve got tons of stuff to play!

…watch, now I’ll drop dead the day before I retire.

Nice price! But given the amount of card errata in Rise of the Runelords, I think I’ll wait a while. I wonder how they’re handling future print runs of RoR. I’m sure a second edition would incorporate the errata, but subsequent print runs of the first edition? Not sure.

I hope you’re not banking on Amazon making Skull and Shackles available for shipping on the 12th. :-)

Story of my life and exactly what I keep telling my wife when packages are delivered and even more shelf space is taken up with boardgames.

Jesus H. Christ, that’s ridiculous. I WAS blissfully unaware of those issues and having fun though. I think I’ll go back to being so.

I hope you’re not banking on Amazon making Skull and Shackles available for shipping on the 12th. :-)

Nah, for that price I’m good with waiting a bit.

It is really co-op. Not in the sense of ‘should i help my character or theirs’ but every action needs to be about the team. I have not won it playing with other players, but as solo with 4 characters i can usually win. The support cards/actions are very important. I enjoy it, i like the theme. I am disappointed in the level-up aspect.

…but I’d still like to play it this Saturday with you and Zarathud. ;)

Although I am more anxious to play some Heroes Wanted again.

Egad, what’s up with all that? Typos or actual rules issues? It looks like a colossal mess.

Just saw over on BGG that Space Hulk is getting a reprint. I kicked myself for skipping last time and I won’t let it happen again. I still have a 2e set with expansions but you can’t have to much Space Hulk. It’s more this time, $125.00 but has a couple of extras and supposedly it will be available for pre-order in a few days and available 9/20. I don’t know how the poster knew it was coming that quick so hopefully we see more official confirmation soon.

Sadly, that’s pretty normal for card games like this. Oftentimes it’s just a timing clarification, or simple rewording to make things clearer for those who might be TOO anal about such things. But it does make one wonder how some of the larger screw ups pass by proofers.

Let’s hope the boards don’t warp as quickly as they did in the previous reprint from 2009. My copy has bowed hallway tiles throughout.

This is why I still maintain that Greater Than Games are the wiser game designers for employing the “Question? Problem? Work it out with your friends!” rule.

Wait, isn’t that their job when they make the game? “Work it out with my friends”? If that’s their answer, I guess me and my friends will just make our own games! :)

Myth (oh God, here I go) took that route. When folks were calling them out for releasing a much anticipated game in a state that one can only optimistically call broken, their stock answer for months was “It’s a sandbox game! You’re supposed to play it the way YOU want!”

God that was frustrating.

<heads off for a dandelion break to bring his blood pressure down>

p.s. I’m NOT comparing Sentinels to Myth. I would never do that. I like Sentinels.

Here’s the source material (official FAQ) for card errata PDF I linked to earlier.

Can’t wait. Space Hulk was the game that got me into gaming way back in 1989 with the first edition. I missed the 2009 edition but this time I am definitely gonna snag a copy!
