Sons of Anarchy

I skipped Season 1 entirely, but am thoroughly enjoying Season 2. Great stuff, but at our house, it’s kinda like Oz was: The show that I watch w/out the spouse because it’s just too brutal, and male-oriented. But that’s cool. Ron Perlman is outstanding, and Adam Arkin is a fantastic villain. I’m totally hooked.

Really should watch season 1, everything happening now is a direct result of decisions made then.

Yeah, I know. I just didn’t want to get too far behind, since there is so much other TV to watch right now, too. (Tough life I have!) I read up on the plot on various websites so I got the gist of it. But, yeah, I’ll get back to it at some point…

I think season 2 so far is much better than season 1 if only because Jax is edgier. He wasn’t believable as any kind of biker until late, and even then only just. The rest of the cast is great, though.

Loved Opie and his Dad on this one.

Poor, poor Opie.

Tig in the van with the bounty hunters this week was hilarious. That guy is a really good actor. Not just for that scene, but throughout the series. They seem to have found quite a few veteran but not really “star” actors to play many of the roles, and I think it makes the show a lot better.

Opie is self destructing. It’s obvious he sides with Clay because he sees the club as his life now, so it’s going to be really messed up if he ends up goign against Jax in the big showdown if/when that ever occurs. I also wonder which side Tig will come down on, as it seemed clear he was with Clay, but now I’m not so sure.

No one’s talking about the best episode of the series yet?

Goddamn, that was great. I was wondering why the camera focused on that van and then…

Love Gemma’s change. Love Bobby being the true leader of the club or at least the one best fit to do so. Love Jax preaching but as soon as his bike gets knocked down shit goes down. Love Opie’s reaction at finding out he was filmed. Loved Unser and Hale’s relationship.

Best show on TV right now (that’s right, Mad Men).

What the…? Chibs! NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! On the bright side, I may no longer have to translate everything he says for my wife (who doesn’t speak Irish/Scot). =)

This was a really good episode, hell this season has been consistantly better in quality than last season even, and next week looks like it’s got the potential to be the best episode of the show to date. If the club even manages to survive the events of this season, I don’t see how you top it for a Season 3.

Katey Sagal is the best part of the show IMO. I love the story and the portrayal of the MC lifestyle and the other characters, but Gemma is hands down the best written and acted character. Seeing her deal with all the trauma this season is fantastic.

Last season was great, this season is awesome.

This is the best show currently on TV. Clay is losing his grip on the club the more he tries to squeeze and Jax is losing his mind every time he looks at Clay. Hale’s progression of being blinded by the law to “knowing the greater devil when I see it” is fantastic. Next week is a 90 minute episode, I can’t wait.

Another very well written and superbly acted episode this week. The descent into madness that both Clay and Jax are experiencing is fantastic. The writing and acting in these past few episodes has really brought the chaos of the clubs situation through to viewers brilliantly. I literally can’t wait for the next episode each week. I enjoyed the first season of this show, but this second season is far better than the first overall.

Also…NOOOOOOO! NOT THE PORN! I loved the scenes at Caracara each week! =)

This just in, show to be retitled “Sons of Commercials.” I can write this right now because of the number of commercials. This is just another reason why it is better not to watch this stuff live. At 10:23pm EST it came out of commercial, we got 4 minutes of the show and then 4 mins of commercials. Then we got six minutes of show and now another 4mins of commercials. This sucks.

DVR is The Only Way. I’m at the point where I can’t even sit down through commercials if I happen to be watching live television. They make me anxious.

Yeah, we let shows record at least 20 minutes before we start watching.

The commercials were heavy because they had 55 minutes of show in a 90 minute slot.

No wonder I was having so much trouble getting through it.

Sure didn’t feel like much more than a usual episode’s worth of events in there.

I watch these one week delayed on Hulu. These are short episodes. 90 minute slots? really?

It was just this episode. Normally it’s a 60 minute slot. This one was about a dozen or so minutes longer than usual.

Fantastic episode though. It was predictable sure, but this cast is amazing. Did not like the montage at the end (one problem I had with the show in Season One was too many montages) and I felt it would be better without the song. But it all still works.

Not usually. It was supposed to be a special episode … But apart from the last five minutes nothing of long-term significance really happened.

I think they’ve really squandered Jax’s “change is coming” junk from the end of the first season, too. It feels to me like there is a big rift between the tone of his intentions and what he is accomplishing. Very much like Hamlet, but without the self-awareness.
