Also, I don’t know why anyone would wanna change the music for this game, it’s PERFECT. I love how it’s an option though.
Because I couldn’t afford the licenses for AC/DC, Motorhead, Taddy Porter, and Ozzy. :)
But I still love the tracks we got, lots of bands I didn’t know before now!
Well on that basis, I should be included as well you know! ;)
I couldn’t get the music out of my head after the press alpha, so I blame you (in a good way) for the large number of Blues Saraceno tracks that are now on my mp3 player.
I know, it’s some great musical discovery.
Not to shill or anything, but some narrated gameplay. Whee!
sigh It is a thing of beauty.
I’m changing my name to Brian Rubin so I can play Rebel Galaxy now.

Broadsides in space. So I can play a David Drake novel? Bravo!
Sweet Baby Jesus, the game looks amazing since the last time I tried it in the beta thingy test thingy whatever it was when you gave keys away a few months ago. :D

I am new to this game, but it looks like the universe is missing an axis. Is this a 2d environment?
For big ships it is naval style. For little ones they can go anywhere. The video gives a pretty good overview of how it works in practice I think.

Yes, 2d is an unnecessary complication.

The only thing I noticed that Rebel Galaxy seemed to be missing is any sort of stats/level up for your character/pilot. A lot of these games have that mechanic and adds some additional gameplay and allows you to specialize even further. I’m just wondering if building a better ship is going to be enough.
Well, there’s faction and guild ranking. But the primary engine of advancement is economic, like most classic space traders. That and story advancement.
I dunno, I think it works. I care a lot more about capturing the feeling of Privateer than of any other more modern space trader (none of which I have enjoyed as much, even Freelancer)
This also may be a reaction to the fact that I have been making ARPGs for what seems like forever, and now have a powerful need not to make a game where you put a point in a little box and watch a bar go up a little bit to advance.
Stop saying things like that. I’m throwing money at the monitor and the game still isn’t here! HELP!
Same here. My dollars are just bouncing right off!
