Call me a graphics whore, but I just can’t go back to stuff that looks like that now, not with all the other bazillion compelling and gorgeous games to play. Tonight in Elite Dangerous I was mining in a pristine metallic belt about 30 LY from Kaushpoos, in the dim light from a distant sun amid the tumbling boulders, and I was just in awe.
So I noticed in editing my wiki today that we’ve had over 30 PC space games released this year. That’s fucking amazing.
Not sure if Brian reported it, but Unending Galaxy 1.1 is finally out.
And hopefully coming to Steam soon. Two space games hit Steam today as well, The Extinction (which I’ve yet to play) and Space - The Return of the Pixxelfrazzer, which is just fantastic.
Friends, this week we’re returning to X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter on Thursday for our multiplayer madness, and I would love, LOVE to get a full house (i.e. 8 players) in order to try and pass that one damned mission we’ve been stuck on. If you’d like to join us, let me know so I can add you to the list. You can find details here:

Thanks!
Someone tell me about this? Can you play okay with mouse and keyboard?

Which mission is it? I never actually played much of XvT back in the day but might be able to look at setting it up this week.
It’s ONLY mouse and keyboard, and there are two control schemes. It takes some getting used to, but it’s a fuckton of fun.
I believe it’s “Protect Resupply Operation in the Kuras Drift”. We’ve tried to pass it maybe half a dozen times.

Huh, I beat the game years and years ago. Are the multiplayer missions different?
Nope, Balance of Power missions can be done in single and multiplayer.

Well how about that. I’m sure I beat the mission then. 15 years ago. I don’t remember any particularly hard missions, but then again I could have tried a dozen times and not batted an eye so…
If I can I would love to join. It just falls right during dinner time, and 2 year olds don’t like to wait.
Yeah, it’s one of the ways XvT was really ahead of its time (and I feel bad only learning that two decades later). No worries mate, if you can hop in, let me know via Mumble.
Can’t answer your question, but OT: I’ve always been curious about the final “-chen” in your handle–is it “Chen” as in a Chinese last name, or the diminutive suffix from German as in the nouns “Mädchen” (girl) or “Brötchen” (bread roll, lit. “small bread”)? I’m a linguistics geek, so pardon the curiosity. :-)
I play a Chinese girl online.
Ah, so the Chinese one, then. Thanks.
Friends, a reminder. Tonight at 5 PM Pacific, we’re gonna play XvT in multiplayer, and we could really use some more pilots as I’m trying to get us to a full house of 8 players. If you have any interest in joining us, please let me know and check out the details here:

Thanks!
So wow, Endless Sky is pretty great you guys, and free. Go play it.
Huh. Thanks for the heads up, Brian. I will be checking that out fo’ sho’.
They had me at “inspired by Escape Velocity”.
Yaaaay! Yeah, I sunk three hours into it today without even intending to. Was gonna do a one-off video, but now am doing a series.
