Isn’t it just a top-down version of Rebel Galaxy but without the awesome soundtrack? ;)
Just couldn’t get into it with the terrible keyboard controls.
You can change them you know. First thing I did.
Will try again, but I couldn’t get into the mission structure either. After the initial tutorial missions, I was just flying around fairly aimlessly, and not really earning enough to pay off the initial horrific loan.
Which ship did you start with? I went with the barge and focused on finding mission clusters where I could get two or three with the same destination. The value of those way outstripped any trading I could do in the barge. I paid off the loan pretty quickly as a result.
I’m interested now to see if having a loan is better than being debt free, because regular payments boost your credit score. The maximum loan I could take currently is actually less than the one I started the game with.
If you land at a base and look at the job board, it’ll highlight which missions you can take and grey out those you can’t, also showing which systems have said missions. Sometimes you can do 2-3 missions in one system. If you combine that with the map’s ports functionality that tells you price differences on ports you’ve been to so you can buy low and sell high, the money will come in a lot more quickly.
I flew the Sparrow to start but there are no bounty missions so the board is sometimes entirely grey for me. I think they need to retool how people who like the pew-pew advance in this game.
Paging Brian–just wondering when the audio portion of your last SGJ Podcast (the Rebel Galaxy one) might make it to iTunes.
Tomorrow, sorry for the delay.
No worries dude, I was just curious. I don’t know how you keep up with all this stuff. Playing new games all the time, youtube videos, etc., active forum posting, and a day job. When do you sleep? Or DO YOU? cue “Dun dun DUN” dramatic music cue

How many space games have you supported on Kickstarter at this point?
I love being KS friends with you because you always alert me when there’s a new space game. :)
I only wish I could do more.
Wow, Kickstarter isn’t even showing all of them to me, but I count 46 successful pledges.

Okay, I made enough money to buy a decent combat ship in Endless Sky, but combat is weird, fast and feels off, Id rather want something a bit more majestic than this pew pew poof stuff.
Trade part is okay, rags to riches is always fun I guess…but combat is very poorly done.
Gave it another try, but no space game is going to be good enough for a bit after Rebel Galaxy!

Paging Brian again-- it may just be my iPod (which was acting up this morning), but you may have uploaded the Void Destroyer 2 SGJ Podcast to iTunes over again instead of the Rebel Galaxy one, FYI. You may want to check. Apologies if it’s a false alarm and my iPod’s fault.
HOLY FUCK that you for catching that. FUCK.
You’re welcome. I was listening for about 5 minutes and wondering when you guys were going to start talking about Rebel Galaxy. ;-)
Gah, I should’ve checked it on my own but I didn’t. My cohost does the audio, so I trusted that it was the right file.
It’s cool. BTW Please tell Jim I enjoyed watching one of his Freelancer videos from the other day.
Also now I kinda feel bad that I almost made you stroke out there, judging by your reaction. j/k
