I’m having the devs on the podcast in two weeks. :)
Let us know when its up, thanks.
Trying to decide if the game’s name is oxymoronic.
Hey, Brian - I’m a long-standing fan of both Sins of a Solar Empire and Sword of the Stars (“Prime”). What newer game do you think is the best to capture that kind of slow space 4X with breakaway combat itch that I have?
I have played both Star Ruler 2 and Endless Space, both of which had some good points but didn’t quite catch me. I’ve been slowly trying to get into GalCiv 3, but that one hasn’t quite clicked either.
Any thoughts? (up to and including how picky I can be in this golden age of 4X games)
I hate to say it, but based on what you’re asking, Sins Rebellion might still be your best bet for this particular itch.
Fair enough. Maybe when Stellaris releases that will do the same for me. In the meantime, perhaps I’ll send Ironclad an early Easter basket with a friendly reminder that they have countless insta-buys for a sequel, lol.
I don’t think Stellaris will have the combat you’re looking for, based on what I’ve seen.
So folks, a couple of things. First off, I could use some advice/opinion. I want to better self promote my stuff, but what I don’t want to do is be a spammer who comes in here, drops a link and leaves, you know? I’m honestly terrible at promoting my own self. That said, what methods do y’all use to find out the latests posts on a site? Feedly or Reddit, for example? Gaining insight into where y’all go for news and updates would help me a lot. :)
Second, tonight we’ll be playing multiplayer Klingon Academy on the YouTube stream, and I am giddy since I’ve never really played it in multiplayer before (our one successful test this past weekend doesn’t count). If any of y’all would like to join us and have a copy of the game, ping me so I can help you get set up. :)
Finally, kind of going along with the last bit, if you’d like to join us on Steam, Mumble or Evolve for multiplayer gaming, I added a page to the wiki with all the information you’d need. :)
Thanks for letting me dump all this on y’all. :)
I don’t know how helpful this is, but I pull up sites that I’ve become familiar with and my eyes go to the top/middle frame to see what shows up as a headline. If I’m looking for something in particular, I’ll use the search feature if there’s one available.
Where do you pull up these sites, and where is this top middle frame?
I use mostly RSS feeds for the sites I’m interested in, or I follow the site/blog on Twitter. There are a few I visit daily (like Bluesnews). That’s pretty much it.
Mostly, I stumble across the sites as they’re mentioned by people I know in forums or at work and just navigate via google if there’s no direct link. The top middle frame for your site, for instance, is right below the header and currently has Let’s Play Star Nomad 2 – Entry 3 – Yo Ho Ho, No Pirate’s Life for Me
Might I ask a favor? If you go to my site, is it clear that there’s an RSS feed and Twitter account to follow? If not, that’s a problem right there.
Thanks!
It has a good skeleton, but I would hold off until they get some more meat on the skeleton.
Ahhhhhh, sorry, misunderstood! Thanks!
I have your site in my RSS for years now, and I didn’t have trouble finding the RSS feed (it’s trivial if you know it’s a Wordpress site), but I work with web development, so it might be easier for me than most people. Let me check.
Ok. Checked and it’s not easy at all to find. Twitter thing is barely visible, RSS is not mentioned anywhere. I propose you do what most sites do and add a standard footer to your website with all available social media links down there (like this), or even better, make a menu dedicated to it in the top, like this.
Gah, I put 'em on the sidebar and in a page in the main navigation called “Connect”, but if you work in the web and even you missed it, I have some work to do! Thanks!
Your theme is responsive, and the right sidebar doesn’t appear on <=1024 wide resolutions (unless you expand it manually), which I was using. I just checked and that connect thing is fine, but I’d consider moving it to the left sidebar for increased visibility.
EDIT: on that note, do you get more views on your site, or on your videos on Youtube? Do you know how many people get to your videos from your website, as opposed to directly from Youtube, or from Steam posts?
YouTube gets more hits/views than the blog.
