It’s out. IT’S OUT.

And with ONE negative review already. ;)

Disclaimer: The one negative review was the only review at the time of this posting.

And it’s not in my language and I can’t read it. Halp!

Don’t worry, I’m a curate AND review the motherfucker. That’ll help.

K guys, I’m gonna start streaming Evochron Legacy in about 5ish minutes! Stop by and say hi please! :)

I’m there. And I’ll buy it tonight if all goes well.

BTW semi-off topic: Can we buy Freelancer online anywhere? direct download? I’d love to play that again…

Well, the important question would be what really is improved from the last version, but I guess it takes a dedicate player to know in depth where are the meaningful changes.

I bought it but I couldn’t play yet. I did watch a bit of Brian’s streaming today and I can say that the navigation map/interface has received a big upgrade. Map is easier to read than ever, and it’s actually pretty now.

As for the rest, I’ll let you know. Eventually.

New improved graphics, more streamlined UI, station/city building, more mission types, built in quest manager, multi-crew ships in multiplayer, heat management and a lot more. It’s really astounding.

Nice! Looking forward to trying it out. I was pleasantly surprised to find there was a new version out today.

I just popped in and straight into a combat training session and immediately remapped my default turn axis to roll and the twist on my stick to turn to match Elite. I did some quick flying around and it is close enough to Elite that I am looking forward to seeing how things are different between the two flight systems. That last time I played Mercenary, I don’t think I had my joystick yet and wouldn’t call myself much of a pilot. But, after many hours in Elite, I am anxious to see how Evochron compares and looking forward to trying out a more realistic? flight space model in combat and doing some real flight assist off flying (if I understand the differences properly).

If you guys get in for some multiplayer, make sure to give me a holler. I am bumming around in Wurm Unlimited and still really enjoying that, but can pop out from that easy enough for some space adventuring!

What’s the learning curve like?

40% discount for owners of Mercenary, plus:

The game does include an experimental Oculus Rift mode (enable with Options > Screen Mode > Oculus Rift (Experimental), it’s designed around the DK2, runtime 0.8, and requires full DirectX 11 support).

Looks like I’m in!

It’s a deep, detailed game, but the tutorial lasts 2 hours and covers every aspect of the game.

No manual, right?

However, there is a demo.

Wow. You don’t see many of those any more

Hmm, for Evochron Legacy, what faction are you guys picking? It seems there is the Alliance or the Federation and if we want to fly together at some point we may need to pick the same one.

I picked Alliance for Kelan so far, but am just going through the tutorials. Someone should make a new thread to get more interest for the game :).

Alliance here. I like Pearl more than Sierra. ;)

Hello my friends, and welcome to another week of polite promotion! First up, Evochron Legacy is out, and I streamed it for 3.5 hours yesterday! You can check out the archived video below, which goes through the entire tutorial (2+hours) plus several missions.

This week I have a couple of videos. First up, I was asked to play Torn Stars: Unstable Space, a total conversion mod for Independence War 2 which is technically impressive but gameplay-wise could use some…help.

I also played several sessions of Tharsis, which just rose my stress level immeasurably. The first video is below.

On the podcast this week, we’ll be talking to the developers of the upcoming 4X space game, Stars in Shadow, which you can watch tonight on YouTube at 5:30 PM Pacific time.

On Thursday, we’ll be diving into some multiplayer with the Community Edition of Starfleet Command II, which you can also watch on YouTube starting at 5:30 PM Pacific time.

Thanks folks!

Welp, I just acquired my fourth Microsoft Sidewinder Force Feedback 2 stick on eBay. That makes 2 red and 2 green models. I’m set I think for backups now. Yay!
