Do you have a tablet? If so, have you played Imperium Galactica 2?

Stars! was very quick and easy to play, but very satisfying.

I actually got that to run recently (had to install Windows 95 Mode via virtual desktop to do it), but it still holds up. STILL SO SAD Supernova never saw the light of day. I wish I could get my beta disks to run.

You would think a remake of Stars (Supernova) would be a Kickstarter :)

Oh damn, Stars. I have had that game on a lot of computers. Would it run on Windows 10 64?

Not at all. Like I said, only way it’ll run is on a virtual Win95 machine. It refuses to work on Win7 outright.

I seem to remember it running fine on XP. However I imagine there’s as many people running that as there are 95, so a 95 virtual machine is probably easy to run. (Does a virtual machine of 95 crash as much as the real 95? Do you need to upgrade to 98SE to get a smooth experience? :P)

Also, for those of you leaving out the exclamation mark from Stars!, you’re not real space-fans.

I actually thought about the exclamation point but thought it might confuse the masses of humanity who were not in the know :)

Never! stoop! to! their! level! GeeWhiz!

Jeb!

.

It ran fine, I actually forget whether it was 95 or XP VM I ran it in, but I had to go through the whole rigamarole of getting the VM to work, which then, IIRC, lets you choose the OS you want. People still even play it multiplayer via this site.

¡¡¡Hola!!!

I actually have an ancient laptop with XP still on it. I wonder if I can find the power cord? Battery is long dead. I used it to play Perfect General 2 and X-COM Apocalypse.

Ohhh that would likely run it. That stars! autohost site above sells keys for the game too, for $6 I believe.

Cool. Thanks, Brian.

Edit: It works fine. Inspiron 600m. Slow as shit compared to my present laptop. But is still has a bunch of games on it. And I’m sure it will run Stars!!! No way I’ll let it connect to the wifi. And I have to pull the battery. I’m afraid that it might try to charge it and BOOM!

It also has a bunch of my college stuff on it. Pictures of the people I worked with in the computer lab. Papers and homework. I feel so old…

Welcome, my friends, to another week of spacey gaming goodness! This week’s game of the week is 2006’s classic Nexus: The Jupiter Incident, with an all-new official HD patch! It’ll be fun because I’m TERRIBLE at this game. ;) I didn’t have time for more due to an hellaciously busy weekend, so I hope this is sufficient. :)

On the podcast this Tuesday (5:30 Pacific), we’ll talk to the developers of the upcoming space strategy game, Descendants: Voidborne!

There’s no Multiplayer Madness on Thursday due to me being out of down for a few days, unfortunately, but we’ll be back on schedule next week with, I think, Mechwarrior 4.

Thanks folks!

It seems the HD patch for Nexus: The Jupiter Incident is now available on GOG.

Nice!!!

Did they ever make a random skirmish mode for Nexus: Jupiter Incident?

I’ve not yet tried this with the new 1.02 version, but I’d hope it still works.
