Ooooooooh boy. What???

Well, the only conclusion is that Brian hates it, doesn’t want to talk about it ever again, and we should all remove it from our wishlists.

Right, Brian?

It’s…very different…

Ok. Either Brian didn’t really like it, or he sucks at the game. We just have to wait a couple days to know which. ;)

Or maybe it’s so good he can’t use words to describe it.

I have never known Brian to be light on words; or to waver on saying he loves or hates a game. So this is kind of interesting :)

Sigh. The game I played that was once Enemy Starfighter was a dynamic, fluid thing wherein you controlled where you were on the battlefield, and it was wondrous.

House of the Dying Sun is a linear, mission-based game with the same amazing, fluid combat, but without the dynamic structure of Enemy Starfighter, so I’m really…torn…on how to feel about it. It’s not my game, I can’t decide what’s best for it of course, but…wow…yeah I dunno…

I think I might consider this a form of emotional whiplash…

Hey friends, welcome to another week of spacey gaming! Sadly I’ve been so busy IRL, as the kids say, that I’ve not had as much time for content generation as I’d like. Therefore, this week likely all you’ll get is a let’s play of 2008’s super-obscure and weird 4X, Lost Empire: Immortals.

On Tuesday’s Podcast, we’ll be recording live at 6 AM PDT – as our guests are in Europe – to talk about the amazing 3030 Deathwar Redux.

On Thursday, only you can decide what I’ll play, so head over and vote in the poll!

Also, final note, since Restream.io has apparently gotten a lot more reliable, I’ll now be also streaming to Twitch as well! YouTube will still be my primary home for content, but yay more options!

Thanks folks!

Hey how about a little love for Space Rogue. More people need to vote for it so Brain can play that one. If anyone here has played it and remembers it, it is a great game. Right up Brian’s alley. It’s pretty dated graphically but if I recall correctly it was the precursor to Privateer and/or Wing Commander series.

I loved Star Rogue. My only problem was I couldn’t do the flying between systems minigame. I had to pass that off to my brother. Origin was so damn good back then.

I forgot about the flying between systems mini game. Trying to fly between the rings was difficult at times, but it was fun.

April 1st 2014 I made my first excited post about Enemy Starfighter and I eagerly followed the trailers and scraps of information for two years until today, when Dying Sun finally hit Early Access.

Of course I immediately picked it up and… Ugh. I’m bummed because it’s just not very good. There’s nothing egregiously wrong with it, but it’s just so average all around.

The removal of the open world aspect leaves it with 14 missions currently which always play the same way, depending on skill level selection. There’s no real enormous scale, the tactical overlay for fleet command can be largely ignored, even on the hardest skill level and the “Traitor’s Flagship” acts as a stopwatch on every mission, meaning you can’t even really experiment or even just goof off.

I really like the aesthetic and the immersion from the radio chatter, (although I much preferred to constant radio noise from early trailers), but you can’t hang about to soak that up, because there’s always a giant blue Battlecruiser on the clock.

Shame.

hugs I know that feel, bro.

Bought House of the Dying Sun today. But I didn’t play it at all, because I also bought Steamworld Heist, and Steamworld Heist is AWESOME.

That does look pretty cool. Wishlisted.

Sigh, sounds about right.

The more I think about it, the sadder I become. For two years, ES was my most-anticipated game. Now that I’ve played House of the Dying Sun…I…I just feel sick inside…like I have to give up something I’ve held onto for so long…and it freaking hurts and confuses me.

Also, this is what I’ll be playing tomorrow afternoon:

Funny thing is I’ve never played it before, so this should be funny, at least.

I was hoping for Shower with your Dad Simulator, but alas…

(I actually voted for Birth of the Federation, mind you)

It won by a massive margin. I was honestly shocked.
