Bah! EA; no thanks.

As in early access, yeah. I’m super curious about this one but my backlog is absurdly large, so I can hold off till games like this and SPAZ 2 are done.

Yeah, I’m curious about this one as well. But, for me, $30 for a game on day one of Early Access is too high for an impulse purchase. It being EA alone is enough for caution, the price just puts a stamp on it.

I would check out a few impression videos. It’s very Rogue-ish. Die, buy perks, repeat. FTL meets Roguey.

I’m probably going to pick it up sometime this weekend. I’ve been looking forward to this for a little while. I’ll let you guys know how fun, visually stunning, and visceral it is.

Brian could you comment on Stars in the Shadow – very nice aesthetic and seems to hit all pistons – but I saw you looked at it earlier. Early access tomorrow I think.

It’s been a while since I played it, but I just got a key for the new Steam version so I hope to get some time with it this weekend for a video. :) Last time I played it I enjoyed it very much.

Good thanks I’ll watch for that!

Had brought up Drone Swarm a while ago in the indie game thread, but this thread here might be just appropriate. Anyway, noticed that they released new video material a few days ago.

That looks deeeelightful JD.

So it’s a game that let’s you play as the Buggers? Pretty interesting.

Early reviews for Stars in Shadow are promising. I’ve been following this for a while and I think this could be a fun though somewhat simple space 4x. And by simple I mean that as a compliment.

The tech research system seems a bit opaque/rabbit holey. I believe we just witnessed the birth of a new word!

Eclipse:New Dawn For The Galaxy dropped this morning. It’s hitting a couple of my hot buttons in that it’s a 4X based on a (apparently) highly-regarded board game. There’s also an IOS version that’s been out for a while.

Never heard of the game in any format, so I’d love to hear from someone who’s played it if it’s worth the time.

Can you elaborate on the staying power of Everspace? It looks really cool but $30 seems a little high, how much variety (ships, upgrades, enemy types, locations) is there?

I asked it in the dedicated Stars in Shadow thread but in case it gets missed - Does SIS being anything new other than the graphics, or is it just like the other 4,329 SF 4X games on the market?

Guys, these games just came out. Even I’ve not had a lot of time with 'em yet. Calm down. ;)

Get cracking, son.

I plan to make videos on a lot of this stuff this weekend, if that helps.

It is a straight up version of the boardgame. Which is a good board game but it feels exactly like playing a digital boardgame. Move pieces, keep track of the rules in your head. The game board you see in the screen shots is the whole game board. So you will be looking at and focusing on about a dozen or so tiles for the game duration. My hunch knowing your tastes is you will not care for it. Best suggestion I can make is to watch some lets plays of the board game and see how it grabs you. If you are stoked by it then pile in. My hunch is you will not find it meaty enough though.

You might be surprised.

Here’s some random guy playing the IOS version.
