Hey, did they get crafting working in Everspace yet? I was told I had materials enough to craft things, but I couldn’t figure out how to do it.

You need to click the little gear/arrow icon next to the thingy you can craft in order to make more.

Hey Brian,

What do you make of Star Rulers 2? More a deep and complex 4X game that happens to be in space. But the more I look the more I like. The many ways to develop and improve your own flagships and support fleets and even how to take on opposing fleets (fight at range, make strafing runs, send a fleet in head-on and a second to attack their flanks…) is practically endless.

Star Ruler 2 is the most unique 4X to come out since Distant Worlds and Sword of the Stars. It’s very different in how it plays, but look up the thread (I’m on the phone or I’d do it myself) that explains how to play the game. That should help determine whether it’s for you or not.

It’s an awesome game though, one every 4X fan should own.

The space battles in Star Ruler 2 reminded me of the anime Legend of the Galactic Heroes, due to the ship blobs.

I just stumbled across Everspace on Steam a while ago. Looks fantastic, and what I’ve played of the Galaxy on Fire games on iOS was quite good.

Really tempted by this.

So Void Destroyer 2 is out on Early Access today. @BrianRubin , any thoughts you wanna share?

On a related note, there’s a Iceberg Weekend Sale going on on Steam, and it includes several space games, including the whole Starpoint Gemini series (up to the latest, still in Early Access Starpoint Gemini Warlords) .

Is Warlords a strategy game version of Starpoint Gemini? Or is it just Starpoint Gemini 2.5?

I think Warlords is an attempt to make the game closer to games like X3, but without as much complexity. So you can have fleets, own space stations, stuff like that. But I’m not entirely sure - I’m sure @BrianRubin can explain better.

What is the best recommendation at this point, Starpoint Gemini 2 Gold or Warlords?

Warlords seems more ambitious but unfinished, I am not sure if I should go with that or get 2’s Gold pack for a fleshed out experience.

I’m only a little ways in but so far I’m liking it. Very open, fun missions, intense combat, big map, things like territory control are coming as well. It’s a massive, massive improvement over the first game in pretty much every way.

Warlords is a more open and ambitious version of Starpoint Gemini 2. While there’s a story, it’s more in the background, as your main goal is to take over the map for your people. There’s quite a bit more variety and I find it more fun. They are still working on it, since it’s in early access, but they keep adding a ton of new stuff to it.
