a) Have you streamed it?
b) Is combat real-time? Or Space Rangerish turn-based?
a. Yes.
B. Yes, real-time. Since this video, they’ve added mouse aiming and a ton of other stuff to make combat more fun.
Hey folks, Pocket Space Empire hit 1.0 today, and it’s a damned great space emperor game, so check it out. :)
Brian wants me to spend all my money. I’m tempted, too
Hey, I just wanna connect you to space games you’ll hopefully love. ;)
I do. I do! That’s the problem :)

The voice over on the trailer video is pretty funny.

I’ve not played the release version, but based on the EA builds, this is the CK 2 in space everyone hoped Stellaris would be.
I played a little bit at lunch. It’s a fascinating conceit, and fairly well-managed. I wish the autonomous AI commanders would do a little more to respond to border incursions on their own—I’ve seen several situations where an enemy fleet attacks and defeats a garrison, but loses most of its force at the same time. The AI commanders never do anything, even if they have a massively superior squadron right next door.

Came to this thread to put up the Brian signal and ask about this.
Found Brian was 4 hours ahead of me.
Was not surprised :)
Hey, I don’t always catch stuff like this, but I knew ahead of time and was also on their mailing list, so please keep coming here to post signals. Can’t stop it. ;)
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa there.
Is this legit? Do you feel like this is CK2 in space? Do other people?
Because that’s exactly why I bought Stellaris and if there is some legit agreement that this game is “CK2 in space” then I will go buy it right now.
The graphics are more CK1 in space, amirite???
Just kidding, I’ll be off to buy this tonight.
The only thing that’s giving me pause is in the review from the guy with ~33 hours on record (2nd most playtime for a reviewer), he says
“The political aspect reminds me of Crusader Kings II, but only on a superficial level. It certainly adds yet another level of game play on top / in additional to of the military aspects.”
Whatcha think?
He may be correct, he certainly has more time in the game than I do.

It’s not as deep as CK II and yes, the graphics are pretty amateurish. That said, if you’re looking for a 4X game that focuses on macromanagement and court politics, this comes the closest.
I was looking at the screen shots on Steam and I saw a system named Blork.
I’m sold.
It was at version 0.44 on November 30. Those guys work fast!
Seriously, though, my eyes hurt. But I’m intrigued.
Some dude did a preview back in Jan.
