Beta happening in late May, Early Access release date is 21st June
We know, we know, you’ve been following us for such a long time now and when we finally release it’s for EARLY ACCESS??!?
We kinda did want the game to go straight to version 1.0, but along the way our minds were changed from this notion that the game would be complete and perfect at launch to realising that we’re approaching the limits of our ability to see the wood for the trees. Finishing the game in an open fashion in collaboration with fans seemed like the best way.
After all, Objects in Space is a very complex game with SO many interrelating systems and we’re an absolutely tiny team, so yeah, this is very much for the best.
That said, it’s coming for PC and Mac on Early Access on 21st June and later on this year for Linux.
The first prototype of Objects in Space was developed in late 2013. It’s nerve-wracking and terrifying and exciting to be at a point where we feel we can share the game with everyone - to all those of you who’ve read these emails, listened to our podcasts, commented on our forums, tweeted at us etc: thank you. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Like, even if you don’t buy the game, knowing people were out there who were excited for it kept us going.
So let’s move on to the things you actually want to know:
You can sign up now for a limited Beta happening in late May.
We’ve released a new trailer to coincide with announcing the release date.
There’s also a video walkthrough where Leigh clumsily spends ten minutes explaining the game for unfamiliar people.
And there’s a new episode of the Podcast in Space as well.
The web site has been updated with new screenshots of the game, and from this point on, we’re not being coy about anything. We’ve held back on all non-Ceres ships up until now so we could make sure they were looking how we wanted when we finally released them. Well, they’re here now, so we’ll be very active and posting info and content on all four ships, space stations and answering any questions you have from here until launch.
So please, if you’re so inclined, jump on the forums and let us know what you’re thinking, the Steam page should be up shortly for those who want to add it to their wish lists etc, tweet at us if that’s more your speed.
We’re very grateful to all of you and to our publisher 505 Games, and we hope you like what we’ve been working on these past few years.
