K, here’s the weekly post I usually make on Mondays for a variety of places:
Hey friends, happy new year, and welcome to 2019! YAY! We’re back from break with a buncha stuff I hope you’ll like. First up, we have plenty of videos to start your year with. Event Horizon is a poorly-explained and implemented space game that you totally should avoid. On the flip side of the coin, Hypergate is a fantastic, fun and frantic space combat game that any joystick jockey needs to play. Finally, I spent some time with the character and intrigue-driven Crusader Kings in space grand strategy game, Star Dynasties!
Speaking of which, on the Podcast this week (Tuesday, 5:00 PM Pacific, Twitch, YouTube, Mixer), we’ll be talking to the developer of the aforementioned Star Dynasties himself!
Finally, on Thursday’s LAN Party (Thursday, 5:00 PM Pacific, Twitch, YouTube, Mixer), we’ll be tooling around with the open-world active tower defense game, Eden Rising: Supremacy!

Well that guy … wow. I can only speak for myself Brian (and even then it is iffy) but I value your space game analysis. You have made that YOUR genre and I, for one, love to hear it.
Plus I am sure Freespace 3 is just around the corner! We just have to wait and see.
Honorable sirs, I am not very well versed in the genre so please tell me if it’s right that Star Traders Frontiers is the best thing since Space Rangers 2.
I think they’ve said the same about Rogue Galaxy and it felt uninspired.
It certainly is quite good, but not Space Rangers 2 or Drox Operative good.

Hey bri, what would you say is the best space game to space out with while partaking of the 'erb?
I took a toke the other day for the first time in ages. Felt good. Did a long slow flight thru the mountains in DCS and then went to elite dangerous. That was ok but the best parts were slowly undocking and docking, combat and stuff all moved too fast to chill with.
So what I’m looking for is so ething with the scale and beauty and preferably VR of elite, but slow and languid.
No Mans Sky is my fave while baked. Pretty chill, pretty visuals.
Space Engine is not a game but VERY cool to just chill around with while baked (no VR yet I think but its coming).

There is a stripped down Space Engine VR spinoff called Overview on Steam I have not tried. I figure I will just wait for the full thing, but it maybe good.
Universe Sandbox 2 is similar and has VR support although not as mind bending as it doesnt handle scale as well as Space Engine does.
X4 aint bad as it can be played slow and doing EVA high is really fun, but frankly the game is visually not appealing like the other two are.
Discovering Space 2 in VR aint so bad., Just take the auto tour to avoid stress, same for the Apollo 11 VR space game.
I suggest avoiding Subnautica for claustrophobia and jump scare reasons.

Er…you probably want Elite really.
If you are in the bubble maybe. But the notion of potentially dying a few thousand ly out , in that state of mind, really is pretty stressful in my experience.
Looks amazing though, no question.
More Space Sims, less space-based strategy games! :)
I guess No Man’s Sky might be the best bet then? Or maybe Evochron?
If only there were more space sims to actually talk about. :P Go play Hypergate, you like, is good.
