V14 about to hit public testing!
New Norway map! New territory control game mode! Challenger 2 and BMP-1! Carl Gustavs! And more!
V14 is out! The devs promised faster updates after V13, and now they push out V14 a month later.
The big new feature is the Territory Control game mode. I tried it out last night and it is fun. All the action is suddenly concentrated in a compact area; no racing hundreds and hundreds of meters to get to the next capture point. Lots of fluidity as squads are maneuvering around one another.
Alpha 15 is out! You get the feeling that this is finally nearing the end of a 4-year Early Access journey, as they’ve added an interactive tutorial to the game. It’s pretty cool, as it includes everything from Squad’s three-channel radio to understanding the map.
BMP-2 is also added. Some maps got slightly overhauled. This game feels like it’s nearing completion. The only glaring things missing from the roadmap are the helicopters and the commander role. Helicopters will probably be the next patch!
Looks like this is 50% off and has a free weekend on Steam. May have to finally give it a shot, though I’m loathe to have to deal with randos and this game is predicated on dealing with randos.
There are good servers out there (generally). The Playground and Squadops. Also West Coast Tactical.

Okay, helicopter gameplay is getting really great now that people are figuring out how to fly the damn things. Frankly, it’s amaaaaaazing now with infantry, armor, and helicopters in the mix. And downright cinematic at times.
Where is the auction house? Why are there no people messaging to sell their loot?

They’re going to start testing on version 1.0 (release) very soon.
They gave big YouTubers a sneak peak at the new map, Fallujah, and the new Middle Eastern Alliance. Most of the map is based on Fallujah’s districts, but they also snuck in an Easter Egg from Pakistan.
