Because of the lack of games you get plus or minus another month roughly. Or else joining this month you’d only get 2 titles instead of 5 if they were strict on claiming only being available for that month. They seem to be extending it another 30-60 days or so. The samurai Shodown 5 game and tomb raider 2 reboot are leaving feb1. Tomb raider 1 reboot left already. All require redemption so if you didn’t actually get them you miss out so it’s like ps plus.
I assume you can always get Destiny 2 because that’s free now on PCs everywhere (DLC and season passes are how they make the money now). It being free was never a specific Stadia perk as far as I understand it.
The Stadia version has the DLC doesn’t it?
Oh, I’m not certain. Sorry, I’m probably just adding to the confusion.

All DLC and the season pass until summer
The information about this has been really bad (what include what not for when) – the detail about seasons pass is hidden somewhere in the fine print
It seems Google is really bad about communication
Making all the information in the world accessible and useful, except the stuff about Google’s own services.

Slightly tangential but I noticed that Activison Blizzard announced an exclusive Google Cloud + YT Streaming deal a few days ago. Probably has some Stadia implications down the line as well…

You assume wrong because it’s Google fucking things up. There is no F2P Destiny 2 tier with stadia based on people who have cancelled so far within the first 3 months. You get all expacs with Pro and you lose access to it when you cancel Pro because there is no free tier (yet?). No announcements on if or how the new light base F2P will exist on Stadia.

No there aren’t any stadia implications at all yet. The businesses are separated and compartmentalized.

I can’t claim you wrong, because on how confused has been everything.
Did google killed your dog?

No, Anthem did. I hate the idea of games or platform as a service.
Why would you want to defend Google endlessly and needlessly?

I hate misinformation
I would probably defend a nazi / satan / microsoft if they where accused of something they never did

I’m not “spreading misinformation” just to spite Stadia.

Why is that surprising? It’s exactly how PS Plus and Xbox Live Gold work. I mean, there’s plenty to complain about with Stadia, but this seems like an odd one to be shocked about.
The performance was total garbage in Chrome on 2/3 of the devices I tried Stadia on due to lack of VP9 decode hardware acceleration. They can’t possibly release on iOS before there’s a good solution for that. Even a general Android release seems iffy; with iOS you can at least trust there’s accelerated x264 support, with cheapo Android is even that a given?
In other news, I only saw this today…
Classic “undermine the other divisions of the same company” move!
Because Stadia Pro was a shitty deal when I thought the library was going to expand over time, and it’s unbelievably bad now I know it won’t. It works on Plus/Gold because you have thousands of other games to choose from (not to mention you get more games each month), and it’s the only way to do multiplayer. And they have complementary massive library subscription services. Google needs to be removing every possible disincentive for people to try the service, and keeping “free” games around is a pretty easy way to do that.

I think they should have sucked it up and show a giant warning popup that your Stadia experience will not be optimal on the device. It’s got to work everywhere, that’s what makes it cool. A free console you can play anywhere. If they don’t have on-screen touch controls they should ALSO make those work, even if they were terrible. It would still be neat to try stuff.

Apparently VP9 coding isn’t even really needed until 4K resolutions so I’m not sure how bad it could be on iOS devices.

Sadly codec formats are a thing. I think google started helping the open formats, but then moved to new ones they themselved custom-made probably for internal needs and maybe DRM ideas.
Codec wars are a bit like napoleonic wars with all soldiers forming a line, and nobody breaking that line.
But they may make a exception and serve x264 or other format in the future for iOS devices.

Stadia streams on H264 too. VP9 is not a requirement.
Stadia has less games in its catalog than the PRO 200:

Oh, I trough they only use VP9. Seems I was wrong.
