Get that onto Urban Dictionary, STAT.

I’ve heard of Anthem and Stadia, what is RIM though?

The dead company that used to be known as Blackberry, homie.

Forget it, Pizza… it’s RIM world.

Oh yeah, RIM, I gotcha now. I was never cool enough to have a Blackberry

From the article:

Sounds like a typical Russian optimist.

So apparently the reason there are basically no indie games on Stadia is that Google isn’t willing to provide any kind of competitive incentive to the developers. Which is just insane, given it’s a platform with no customers:

Just what kind of clowns are running this operation?

(In other news, I just remembered to cancel my free Stadia Pro. Had to actually Google for how to do it, since the UI element for getting into my profile settings wasn’t rendering on the web UI.)

Did you have to do it on a phone like initial setup?

No. So it was really strange. The way you get into the profile settings is supposed to be the same as on all Google UIs; a profile icon in the upper right corner. But for me the page only had the controller icon and the friends icon, which didn’t seem useful. But turns out you can get to the settings also via the friends menu, of all things.

Once I’d opened the settings once, the profile icon suddenly appears on the page as intended. So some kind of bug, which happens. But the one place where I don’t want them to happen is on the path for canceling a subscription.

Everything continues to be a clown show.

Ugghhh, that article. Kind of has me regretting my Stadia purchase, however at the end of the day I guess I still have a Chromecast ultra that I intended to buy anyway.

I was hoping that streaming services like Stadia and Geforce Now would eliminate the need to buy/upgrade expensive hardware, but with this article and the recent withdrawal of Blizzard and Bethesda from Geforce Now it seems like stupidity and greed has trumped the technology.

So for me I think the way forward will to be to invest in a new gaming computer, or hold out till the end of the year for the next gen Xbox (with its backwards compatibility).

I don’t know if it’s all doom and gloom. Geforce Now is pretty awesome, and they continue to add games to their service on a regular basis. Hopefully they will be able to work things out with the few services that have left.

Like I said many times in here streaming is going to happen, but it may not be stadia out on top. Google isn’t treating it seriously.

Streaming will need good exclusives to get an initial hold. Geforce now is good, but it does require you to have bought the games. Stadia does not have enough content.

Once somebody can throw a lot of content into a service, including some sought after exclusives to capture initial players, we’ll be talking. I don’t think it will be long until then.

I know Google had some talks planned at GDC - I wonder if they were planning on announcing then that is now pushed back to E3 or whatever.

A new studio? Hell yea. Stadia is going to be 2024’s product of the year.

Steaming is the new VR!

Its going to take over gaming! next year, soon, when the next gen tech comes online, within the decade, when the new generation grows up with it, one day before the sun dies. :)

Odds we see a game released for Stadia from this guy’s studio?

She is a gal and although I am skeptical of streaming she has a track record of delivering so I would say its high she will deliver something here.

Unless you meant me? In which case that’s above my pay grade and in publishing’s capable hands I will ship wherever I am told :)
