Star Citizen - Chris Roberts, lots of spaceship porn, lots of promises

Medical gameplay sounds kinky.

Meanwhile, over there, they’re doubling down on the lies

It’s a call for questions for an upcoming Q&A to clarify the panel. That’s hardly “doubling down on the lies”.

Now, when they answer, if you think said answers make no sense, that comment might be warranted.

I’m all for calling them out when you think you should. But one thing you can’t hold against CIG (especially when compared to the likes of Frontier) is that they engage regularly with their community and welcome questions.

That doesn’t presuppose the quality of their answers, of course. But you can’t criticise them for asking for questions, surely?

So if you do have questions about these key core initiatives that will enable a truly massive, scalable, and persistent world

Before posting your question, make sure to watch the CitizenCon 2951 “Server Meshing & The State Of Persistence” panel”

That’s not debatable. But if you’re suggesting that just because they “engage regularly”, though it’s usually a litany of lies, misdirection, none sequiturs etc makes it all OK, then we should probably have a debate about the merits of that notion. Seriously.

Right. But I wasn’t.

Fair enough. I see what you were taking issue with now. Thanks for quoting it.

I mean, despite the fact that it’s now widely known that “server meshing” isn’t happening, they’re still pushing it by citing the same material that debunks it. The public statements of a lead dev on it, notwithstanding.

I don’t get it. They really do think that their core audience are clueless fools. There’s no other explanation that I can see.

The thread is already a dumpster fire of deleted posts. Go figure.

What?!?!? You’re telling me that the Server Meshing that they have been talking about working on since at least 2016* had absolutely no progress and they are just now getting around to trying some very simplistic baby version of it that might be ready in a few years that is absolutely missing the majority of everything they promised it would have?

(* I think they started using the term in 2015 but here’s a 2016 example https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nvule1cD_zk&t=1690s)

Speaking of progress, check out the new open air transport carrier!

The Liberator!!!

3 landing pads, 2 vehicle bays, 16 jump seats, 3 bathrooms!

Get it now for $500! Limited time offer, prices sure to increase!

Yup. I’m getting 2!!

Such a relief it has all those bathrooms. What would you do without?

I imagine your bladder would explode and then the medical gameplay would kick in.

I frequently forget that this Is A Thing (though even that is, arguably, debatable). Then I read some news release with the latest “updates” and giggle for a good five minutes before moving on.

Mazel tov!

I too am giddy at all the recent progress. The latest Squadron 42 progress report is outstanding.

Gameplay Story
The Gameplay Story team started the month polishing utensil interaction in several mess hall scenes before achieving a technical breakthrough by getting NPCs to walk correctly while holding helmets under either arm.

“Having managed to solve the helmet problem, we then did a rapid sweep through all our scenes with helmets to update them accordingly. It’s been great to see so many scenes take a leap forward and to see our characters holding and interacting with their headwear in a realistic way in-game.” Gameplay Story

Alongside this, they overhauled the ‘Graves walk and talk’ in chapter five.

Work also began on an emergency handle setup involving prop animation, a particle effect, mesh swapping, and entity setup. This is a particularly complicated task but the setup is nearing completion and appears to be highly accurate. Soon, the team will be able to finalize the scene with all separate elements correctly working together.

If their core audience are the whales, they may be right.

Good thing they fixed models being able to hold their helmets. This is real next gen stuff and I don’t think I would have enjoyed my space combat game if models weren’t carrying their helmets in mess halls properly, or using their utensils, or using utensils while carrying their helmets.

I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve stopped playing No Man’s Sky and Elite Dangerous because of inaccurate hygiene behavior.

What the actual fuck?

That’s not real… Please tell me that’s not real.

Under the AI section ;)

Well, as long as the game has only one scene, well done!
