Was this split always the plan? (Honestly asking because I don’t know.)

It doesn’t have farming or sataball, which makes Evochron an incomplete space sim.

Uhhh boy, that’s gonna go over real well. Someone order a truck of popcorn!

Star Citizen (MMO) and Squadron 42 (single-player/co-op campaign) are going to be sold as two separate games because the scope of SQ42 ballooned due to stretch goals. I had previously said here that anyone who backs Star Citizen from now until the release of SQ42 would get both games included in their pledge, but it looks like I was mistaken. Anyone who backs Star Citizen from now until February 14th will have both games included in their pledge.

Here’s my post from October.

God dammit, you’re right! Guess I’ll have to go play Ascent: The Space Game (yes that’s what it’s called) for my farming needs at least…

Currently, when you pledge you get both Star Citizen and SQ42 (SQ42 is the single player game). I believe that they are going to make some split in the future so that folks who aren’t interested in the multiplayer game can purchase just SQ42.

Apparently that’s no longer the case. Crap on a cracker.

I don’t think it’s going to be a discounted deal where you just purchase part of the game. It seems like Star Citizen and Squadron 42 are both going to be AAA retail-price, and Squadron 42 will release before Star Citizen does.

The fault is really on me as now I realize that might have never been case. Chris Roberts said something to the effect of “Squadron 42 and Star Citizen are both full-blown games so we might sell them separately when they come out. However, all the backers will get both games.” and I assumed that “backers” meant anyone who will back the game from now until its release as opposed to everyone who is currently a backer.

Maybe I’m confused or nitpicking semantics here, but isn’t everyone a backer at this point? If not, why would current purchases be called pledges?

Once again, it’s either terrible messaging, or poor planning.

I’m not blaming you or anything, just pointing out that no longer seems the case and worried that a ton of people are gonna get upset over it.

Everyone is currently a backer for both Star Citizen and Squadron 42 as it was in the beginning. It looks like on February 14th, newcomers will have to choose between being a backer for Star Citizen, being a backer for Squadron 42, or being both at twice the cost.

Assuming the current prices stay the same, it will be like this after February 14th:

Star Citizen - $45 (starter ship)
Squadron 42 - $45
Both - $90

It seems prices haven’t been announced yet, but it seems there might be an official statement by RSI early next week. I suppose we’ll have to wait to know the actual prices and conditions.

Squadron 42 Episode 1 is planned for Q1 2016, is that correct?

“2016” according to the announcement trailer, I wouldn’t expect it sooner than the end of the year. Episode 1 is more like “Star Wars: Episode X” rather than Telltale Game: Episode 1, as in it’s a full-fledged game with around 70 missions. In fact, I don’t even know if it’s still going to be called Episode 1.

I still struggle to see how SQ42 is going to be ready for 2016, given how little they have actually demonstrated of any real gameplay/mission/scripting structures. We’ve seen some of the cut scenes and some of the PU play, neither of which demonstrate much work on 70 or so missions.

It seems anyone can play Star Citizen this weekend for free (as long as they’re willing to create an account and download about 27GB).

There’s also some official info about the Star Citizen/Squadron 42 package split. No prices though.

So they split the game? Sweet now I get 2 games for my pledge back in 2012.

Or none at all, considering how far behind schedule they are.

Course, the sun wont go supernova for quite a while yet, so there is a chance people on earth will see it get released.

Didn’t you get the memo? The speculation isn’t that Star Citizen will never happen; it’s that it will suck because the developers have no idea what they’re doing.
