It’s not too late to convert to the Star Citizen religion whereby anything the developers do can’t be wrong and any game they put out is the best whatever. It’s like the Trump supporter of gaming.
I don’t think they have no idea what they’re doing, but I’m pretty certain that they have significant scope and management issues.
I think it’s fair to say that it is extremely likely that they will deliver something, and that that something will disappoint a lot of people. But it could well be a good, maybe even a great game. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what happens.
It’s like having a debate over a slow-mo car crash - that takes 2 years.
Just painful. Come get me when CR releases this gargantuan opus.

But, they’ve already delivered something. Everything else is gravy at this point.
They’ve delivered an appetizer.
But dis game is gunna be yoooooge.
They’ve released more details on the package split.
As of now, from February 14th onward it will be:
Star Citizen - $45
Squadron 42 - $45
Both - $60
They will launch from the same client and buying just Squadron 42 will still grant you access to Arena Commander.

The base price for either an Aurora starter package (with the persistent universe) or the Squadron 42 single player campaign will be $45. If you would like to add one or the other (Squadron 42 to a Persistent Universe package, or the Persistent Universe to a Squadron 42 package) it will be a $15 addon. (These prices are not final, and are subject to change with future promotions.)
I expect the prices to increase once the games come out.
Sigh, this won’t go well.
So, having not followed this game too closely, is it worth buying now for $45 and getting everything? Or is the game still too mired in controversy and better to wait and see?
How much for just Star Marine? Or has that been cancelled? :)

:)
Having followed a lot of their development diaries, I can say there is a lot of promise, but it’s still completely up in the air how much of it will be delivered.
My suggestion is wait and see.

I put in money. I am an idiot. Wait and see.

Eh, for the time being it’s only $15 more to get everything if you wait, so unless you actually want to play it now in its incomplete state, then you should wait.
If you want to play it now and don’t mind having to wait to get your money’s worth, then get it. But know that you are getting into.
Thanks guys. I’ll wait and see.
Definitely wait and see. I wish I had, given that I am much more interested in SQ42 than in SC itself…

Probably, as the prices have increased and the game isn’t even out yet.
Though, to be fair, this is what Minecraft did. Prices steadily increased until the “beta” launched. But those increases were like 5-10 bucks.
