No. Nor do I want to ;)

It seems Alpha 2.2.0 is now available on the PTU. More info on Reddit (so patch notes can be read by non-backers):

WC3 has the best (and only good) story in the original series, although all of 3-5 are fun.

Ah, they’ve added in the NPC policing and player bounty systems, which is slick.

The ability to take down comms arrays (or turn them back on) in order to control whether or not the NPC police are aware of kills in an area is interesting.

Yeah, reading the notes, it does have some curious PvP mechanics, but they look very easy to exploit for griefing, even more so depending of any bugs that might appear.

It will be interesting to watch and see its reception when it goes public, for sure. I also like that the patch notes are extensive this time.

Alpha 2.2 is now available for all backers.

Downloading this now. It’s free until March 20th, in case anyone was curious.

So another free week? Interesting.

Funding seems to have fallen of a cliff in 2016. It’s still a couple of mill a month, but who knows what their burn rate is.

No new ship sales. October saw the Sabre, November saw the Crucible and Anniversary sale, and December saw the Reliant variants.

They currently have three ships that are waiting their turn, and I don’t know if any ships will get variants.

There’s a long way to go still but at least there is clear progress.

Also Derek seems to have quieted down, coincidence?

He lives over at Something Awful now, haven’t seen him in this thread since he was on Vox Day.

Wow. This game barely runs on the lowest graphic setting on my decent gaming laptop. It also caused it to spit flames out of the back. I don’t think I’ll be playing it. What I did see looks pretty, though.

A competitor appears.

Tee hee.

That’s almost slow-clap worthy

It certainly looks more playable than Star Citizen.

Almost makes Vive look worth the cost.

Birds:0! Bird murdered! You sick bastards!

It seems Derek Smart has a new set of predictions and information from his “sources” regarding the present and future status of Star Citizen:

[ol]
[li] Star Citizen (like Star Marine when I said it) has been put on indefinite hold internally. That’s primarily why Chris (of all people) couldn’t talk about anything beyond 2.x. All they are going to be doing now are bug fixes and tweaks. They never planned – and won’t be doing – any of the promised features. All the primary engineers are doing now is pulling a pay check for appearances sake. It’s unsustainable and within the next few weeks; there will be a complete shutdown of everything not related to SQ42.
[/li]> [li] All hands on SQ42 (which is still more of a mess, than it is a game) as we’ve know about; but it’s serious now and has been communicated company-wide to “parties who need to know”
[/li]> [li] I now have 11 confirmed top tier leavers (management doesn’t know about at least 7 of them); a few of them are staging a joint exit. I have no intentions of naming names as I have done in the past. So you all will need to run your own LinkedIn trolling.
[/li]> [li] As I predicted, they are literally out of money to finish these projects. Like literally. When I posted about “going concern” few days ago, that’s what I meant. And they’ve been looking for investment/bailout. Past and recent efforts to raise (not just through ship sales) money, have failed. And they haven’t disclosed this to the backers because they don’t feel that they have to. Though one person did point out that croberts had indicated that if he wasn’t making $3m per month, he would have to scale back. That’s what he is expected to fall back to when the time comes. Except that he’s also gone on the record as saying that if funding stopped, he could still complete the game. I have links to both statements.
[/li]> [li] This is one that I simply cannot mention. At all. I am awaiting legal clearance (one has flat out said “don’t do it”), which is why I sent Erin a message.
[/li]> [/ol]

I’m curious to see if any of those turns out to be true. I can see the SQ42 focus being true, but Star Citizen being put “on hold” with people pulling paychecks without working (and/or without layoffs) is really hard to buy, since I doubt the people working on SC would be so easily redirected to SQ42, or would remain there doing nothing. Also, people leaving is kind of expected, but “top people” leaving at once might be a bad omen. So there might be a grain of truth there somewhere, which is why I’m posting it here - so we can wait, see, and come back to this when it’s time, to know what is true and what is not.
