I thought they made a bunch of money during the past couple of SQ42 events. Is that not true, or is it that the cost of the operation has outpaced even those gains?

Has anyone here actually tried the sandbox thing they did release? I have an account, whatever the lowest tier of the original Kickstarter was, but there didn’t seem to be enough there to try it. Especially since it was confusing what exactly I had to do to import my account.

I can’t even download it. Stalls every freaking time. I know people who have tried it, and so far reviews are widely mixed, but still mostly among the fanboy/non-fanboy sides of the isle.

Well, for those who managed to download it, it seems you’ll get a free look at the recently added Starfarer for the next few days.

There’s also some info about 2.4, which apparently will push a lot of stuff to the server side, and also add some limited character customization.

Do you have the Star Citizen client installed?

Do Persistence, character customization, and earnable in-game currency count as bug fixes and tweaks as per Smart?

Well, he could say it’s a bluff, or that nearly all of what is announced for 2.4 was done before PU development was frozen, or something similar. You know him. That’s what he does.

Someone has created a database of all questions and answers in the “10 for the Chairman” episodes, searchable by keywords, dates, and more.

I am still waiting for the Escapist to follow up and develop/validate their sources from the original story. That seems to have been forgotten as well.

With a lot of people in the Escapist laid off recently, I doubt that will ever happen, but who knows?

Yeah, and I’m sure that’s all just very convenient and coincidental. Wake up, sheeple!

Did any of Derek’s earlier dire predictions about this game actually come to pass? Wasn’t the company supposed to implode sometime last year or something?

“And I said last year that they were running on fumes. I gave them 90 days. They pulled the Q4/15 stunt. It bought them a few months. Here we are.”

So there’s a semi-official subreddit (/r/starcitizen) where fans of the game gather on Reddit. Most criticisms against the game are usually quickly downvoted or removed, and mentions to people like Derek Smart are pretty much forbidden.

However, someone decided to create a thread where members could post unpopular opinions, or opinions not usually seen or allowed in the subreddit.

You’ll never believe what happened next.

Rather than wading through that, is there something specific that I should see?

A thread of fairly civil and constructive criticism judging by the top comments and a mod offering to run that type of thread as a regular feature: "What do you guys think of an “subreddit official” monthly or bi-monthly “Unpopular Opinions Thread”? With proper emphasis on constructive criticism, avoiding downvoting, and proper debate - it could be a great thing.

I think threads like this are very important at keeping critical thinking high and hivemind swarming low, and I appreciate you guys keeping this civil and orderly. ".

All looks pretty nice. But I’m not sure what caught Rhamorim’s eye and I don’t have the time to find out right now. Maybe it’s simply that lots of people commented?

No, it’s just that it not only became a very popular thread pretty fast, but most of the comments echo observations usually made by “detractors”. I feel like it breaks a bit the “echo chamber” nature of that particular subreddit, which is definitely something welcome. Additionally, judging by some of the comments there, it was a bit… cathartic? As if people had finally an opportunity to express their doubts, fears, and criticism without facing backlash from other users or mods.

Okay, thus my confusion. :) I was expecting a monumental meltdown.

(great movies btw…- Thanks QT3 Front page ages ago, I think.)

We all were. Hence “You’ll never believe what happened next.” Civil discourse was the last thing I was expecting! :)

You know, buying fancy doors with backer money when the game is not even close to complete is… well, let’s say it could be “misinterpreted”.

Cool door though.
