Meh, those look pretty cheap.
@ that door… my office cannot even afford to give us pens. :|
To add insult to injury, those doors aren’t even automated - they have hired two FTE’s to hide either side and slide the sections apart whenever the card is swiped.
The really expensive part is the guy off to the side with the soundboard that has to hit the SWOOSH button every time.
Hell’s bells - three FTE’s!?
It’s ok, the Citizen fanbase got so excited when they saw these doors they just donated another 1.4 mil.

I really, really hope Chris can produce a game, even a mediocre one (that could be improved over time). At this point the potential for a huge slip-up is just growing out of control, or so it feels!
Interesting game dev side note, that ‘tweet’ is from one of the brothers that formed the 80’s dev house The Pickford Brothers, i met them once, and here is a list of the games they have been involved in:

For a moment I thought that they have started selling virtual doors for the virtual spaceships. Could net them another bunch of cool millions.
Limited edition full solid gold doors for your own ship!

For some reason this reminds me of the book “Ready Player One”.
I wish Chris all the best, otherwise it will be fun to watch how such insane budget (should be 200-300M till launch, possibly more!?) can be…burned!?
Maybe Chris Roberts has a secret ‘Brewsters Millions’ pact going on with someone. :p
Why the fuck those doors take so long to open?
BTW, you can play the game for free this week, if you want to check it out. And they’re having a special sale of a concept ship - a mining one.
Also, the devs haven’t implemented mining yet, and even the feature set for that particular area is still open at this point.
But they’re selling a mining ship. For $140, I think? Something like that.

I’d rather spend $140 on perfectly legit ebay “meteor debris” and “moon rocks.”
Futuristic sliding doors aren’t going to pay for themselves.
