Star Citizen - Chris Roberts, lots of spaceship porn, lots of promises

Actually, IW was probably my favourite CoD campaign since MW1 (though I am not huge CoD player, didn’t play most of them). And it did somewhat feel like a super extreme arcadey version of what Squadron 42 is trying to attempt.

I’m not part of your reality.

That is just too weird…

CIG have now resorted to using DMCA to take-down Evocati videos.

Star Citizen 3…" This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Cloud Imperium Rights LLC and Roberts Space Industries Corp

This directly contradicts this statement he made in 10 for the Chairman: Episode 06 on 01/24/2014.

BREAKING! CIG dev confirms Star Citizen may NEVER be an MMO. I wrote about it.

Sounds like the worm has finally turned.

2 years ago you’d get shouted down for saying the obvious, that this thing was a great big white elephant.

Now everyone is openly disparaging it.

How ridiculous that the entire cycle has to run its course. But that’s how our politics always is.

It was as obvious 2 years ago as it is now, except then it was still in the ‘what goes up’ part of the cycle

They’ll get a game out of it, but geeze it’s an exercise in waste unrestrained group-think.

I dunno what the heck Derek is doing here running constant updates on this. Waiting for it all to implode I guess.

They picked a fight with a semi-retired borderline autistic manchild because I wrote a blog that said Chris was full of bullshit and could never build the over-scoped game. Because, you know, they didn’t get that memo.

That cracked me right up.

No, I don’t think that they will. Thought they would a few years ago but unless they somehow pull a “Here’s a bunch of fully realized SQ42 missions” out of their ass soon it isn’t happening. Just a bunch of half working barely connected systems and tech demos. Because of the engine it’s on I doubt it could even be a “well maybe somebody can buy this and salvage it into something” case.

I agree with this. I too thought that at the very least they would have SQ42 out in some form, then just let the Star Citizen crap linger and die.

They got way too excited by the MMO stuff. SQ42 should have been top priority.

That’s the thing. I’m not really interested in a narrative-driven SP game, I’d be more interested in a persistent/online universe (although not a MMO, per se).

So the easy solution for them is just to promise that Star Citizen will be everything to everyone, and it’s netted them $160M without having to actually deliver anything. Genius!

Naturally, there’s a new JPEG ship sale for CitizenCon on Oct 27th. No, I’m not making that up.

I wonder if they’re a correlation between Trump voters/supporters and SC whales. Both have this impenetrable reality shield that nothing seems to be able to get through.

Yeah, we’ve long suspected that is actually some overlap. Though the average Trump supporter is a backwater moron who knows nothing about vidya games.

I had no idea there was so much legal action and aggressive lawsuit threats about this game.

Did Roberts really raise $141 million for this thing? With no delivery date in sight? What a cautionary tale for early backing of a game project. What a waste of money. What a charlatan that guy is.

No. He raised $161 million to date. With no release date. And six years later, not even a working pre-Alpha. No, seriously, that’s 100% facts.

And is there really no way to get refunds? I can’t imagine paying for a game 5 years ago and still not getting a release. Feels like it borders on criminal behavior to me. At the very least, no one should trust anyone on that project ever again.

Releasing a buggy game in good faith in one thing. Taking the money and running is quite another. What the heck are they doing with all that money? They can make $20 million a year just keeping it in a safe index fund. That’s outrageous. And they keep asking for and getting more money? Its like a scam to part space sim nerds and their money.

There goes my fond memories of Wing Commander. I had no idea Roberts was such a scumbag.

ROFLMAO!!!
