I wonder if they’re a correlation between Trump voters/supporters and SC whales. Both have this impenetrable reality shield that nothing seems to be able to get through.

Yeah, we’ve long suspected that is actually some overlap. Though the average Trump supporter is a backwater moron who knows nothing about vidya games.

I had no idea there was so much legal action and aggressive lawsuit threats about this game.
Did Roberts really raise $141 million for this thing? With no delivery date in sight? What a cautionary tale for early backing of a game project. What a waste of money. What a charlatan that guy is.

No. He raised $161 million to date. With no release date. And six years later, not even a working pre-Alpha. No, seriously, that’s 100% facts.

And is there really no way to get refunds? I can’t imagine paying for a game 5 years ago and still not getting a release. Feels like it borders on criminal behavior to me. At the very least, no one should trust anyone on that project ever again.
Releasing a buggy game in good faith in one thing. Taking the money and running is quite another. What the heck are they doing with all that money? They can make $20 million a year just keeping it in a safe index fund. That’s outrageous. And they keep asking for and getting more money? Its like a scam to part space sim nerds and their money.
There goes my fond memories of Wing Commander. I had no idea Roberts was such a scumbag.

Are you applying to be an acolyte of Derek’s? Because this is how you become an acolyte of Derek’s!

Who is Derek? Just commenting that the whole thing sounds like a scam. How can someone capture $160 million in capital and produce no finished product? If I had that much money I’d revolutionize industries.

Those 3 facts:
$161 million
6 years
No game
It’s really astounding when it’s boiled down to those 3 facts.
But, next year guys! It just needs one more year!

To put this in perspective, GTA V was made in 4 years to the tune of $137 million. There is no way anyone can claim Star Citizen is more complicated to make than that game. And they had to finance that themselves. Not crowdfunded.
Why do people keep giving this guy more money? It’s crazy.
Anyway, I have no skin in this game, but space games are one of my favorite genres. Just astonished.
Yeah, but “space games” covers a lot of real estate. I mean you’ve never played a Mass Effect game, have you?
I played the first one for about an hour. The second for maybe 30 minutes.
Apparently the concept of The Ultimate Space Game has a strong allure.

Played the first ME and am, going through ME:Andromeda now. Even though you can’t pilot the ship, I would consider it a pretty good space game. It’s more of an RPG set in space, but beggars can’t be choosers. Unless they get ripped off…

No, GTA V was all about things that happen in the real world. Just regular guys. Star Citizen is about anything that could happen at any time in any universe. It has to encompass multitudes. Mein Gott, it is full of stars!
I mean, technically the way Star Citizen has evolved is a more complicated game than GTA IV. That’s why it’s never going to come out because they are shooting for something that is so immensely complex and massive that it’s not a feasible project, and the likelyhood of all that complexity coming together to equal a fun game is even less feasible.
GTA V initially came out in 2013. They’re still updating the game’s semi-MMO mode, so that’s actually 8 years of development.
Check and mate, Star Citizen doubters! Rockstar still hasn’t finished that game.
Who is Derek?
Lol
I am Derek.
No I’m Derek.
No I’m Derek, and so’s my wife.
Geek points if you can name the film reference sans Google.
