Step 1: Make models
Step 2: herpderp
Step 3: PROFIT!!
“currently playable stuff”.
Your phrasing here doesn’t make this person sound very credible. ;)

I wrote an article about everything from Evocati 3.0, refunds and small claims court, to CitizenCon and financial oddities

Meanwhile, the hate sub on Reddit finally figured out that they were dealing with an unstoppable force. The guy who made this post is from the old Usenet days. I can’t out him, because if I posted his Usenet handle, most of you who were there at the time, would immediately recognize/remember him.
Can you believe that it’s been so long that I’ve forgotten the names?

I believe it. Same here. But I 100% guarantee that you’ll remember this one because he was pretty active in the threads we all use to lose our collective minds over. Good times.

Sounds like Commander Krud. Jeebus thats like 2000 era internet Usenet right? Back when derek fought the whole comp.sys.ibm.pc.games.space-sim group. I only came to Qt3 cuz Asher and Chick stopped posting on Usenet and he usually had good comments on games. or sumthin.

Just spent 15 minutes reading some of the comments. Wow, Derek, you have a huge “fan base” of haters. And all these over a PC space game?! Oh humanity!

No mean feat that, even back then!

Yeah. That’s nothing. A lot of the crud has since scrolled from the front page. It used to be a lot worse. That’s what happens when you spend 3 decades building complex & ambitious niche games, then write a blog saying a game looks impossible and is probably a scam. You bring out the dregs of the Internet.
Me as well.
Which brings me to: @dsmart Reading all of the forums associated with this game must be time-consuming on a massive scale.I mean, this thread right here is where I get all of my news for it. I simply don’t have time to do all of the reading that you must be doing (not to mention all of the writing you do). How do you manage to find the time to make a living in the midst of all of this?
I for one am grateful for your contributions both here and in your blog (which I haven’t read in its entirety I must admit, though I do try to keep up somewhat through your links here). But geez, really. How do you manage it? Seriously. It must be akin to a full-time job at this point.

So where is this at for the layperson? Is anything coming out in 2018? Is it being destroyed by fanatical haters? Is it being sunk due to loss of revenue? Last I knew if they could just get their budget in line they’d releasing one part in 2018 and the other major part in 2019 (which one is story mode I don’t know).
From my lazy personal observation, and Derek’s much more in depth posts my assumption is that that they don’t have shit to release period.
Like that 5 years, hundreds of employees in half a dozen countries have amounted to basically an E3 level vertical slice of bullshit.
For more than the cost of GTA V, and a longer time frame, CIG has pretty much just launched buggy demos. I’d like to know who their whales are, because I’ve got a bridge to sell them…
