I never took you for an anti-y-ite, Bryan. Oops, I mean, Brian.

I am REALLY interested to see if there are actually any whales buying the beacons. I mean, despite all the negative press, people can’t be that stupid, right? Right?
Or Pinky. I’m still not sure. Narf!
So, now we have a better idea of how they are doing this year:
They are now at $170.9 million total and $30.3 millions in 2017 so far. They likely won’t hit the $36 million of 2015 and 2016, barring really good December sales, but they might very well do better than 2014.
It does seem funding is drying slightly (probably we’ll see a 5% decline YoY?, we’ll see, December has been a very varied month for them income wise). I do think we’ll see the project hit $200 million next year, even if it starts slowing further.
If they actually show off SQ42 in the anniversary livestream, as they apparently plan to do, they will get a huge bump, even though it will be a completely scripted/pre-rendered vertical slice that won’t be close to representative of the actual development state.
I wonder how much do they have to give to government? From that 170 million how much can they actually use?
???
Corporation tax is based on profit, so as long as they keep spending, very little.if anything. Normally you spend all, ask for a grant and go into some loses to avoid paying anything (gross oversimplification, but that’s the gist of it).
There are sale taxes to consider, but I’m guessing those will be lowish. They should be getting into their accounts about 80-90% of those $$$ (in a worst case scenario)
I’m pretty sure RSI gets taxed on their revenue which would include players’ purchases and pledges.
It’s normally net revenue, though. At least here in Spain, other than sale taxes, you only get taxed on year end profits.

If $30m is a “slow down”, then this animal will have a very long tail. I suspect this thread will still be chugging along in five years.

The last desperate cash grab is underway. They extended the sale to Dec 11th
2013 Anniversary Sale Day Count: 10 Days (11-18 through 11-27)
2014 Anniversary Sale Day Count: 11 Days (11-22 through 12-02)
2015 Anniversary Sale Day Count: 12 Days (11-20 through 12-01)
2016 Anniversary Sale Day Count: 12 Days (11-19 through 11-30)
2017 Anniversary Sale Day Count: 18 Days (11-24 through 12-11)
which is interesting because this year’s sale is already (only 10 days in) their most successful ever at over $7 million.

They extended it from the 4th to the 11th because of their blatant and desperate cash grab.

I was replying to Mok’s comment about this thread still being here in five years. Thus almost.
Think of the bunker he could have built with $150 million.
