Oh, another thing that I noticed today, was that they seem to have added some simulation of atmospheric effects on flight.
I hadn’t noticed this before, because the places I had flown to didn’t have atmospheres, as most of the places are just space stations or stuff… But I went to a moon that was kinda of a Mars/desert place, and flight in the atmosphere is way different. There is turbulence, and you need to pay more attention to what’s going on, as the ship can pull a little bit suddenly.
I’m not sure how high Fidelity it’s modeled… I’m interested to see how different ships handle. The Origin 315p which is my crappy cheapo ship that I got with my original bundle did not handle particularly well, and kept feeling like it wanted to nose down into the planet.
It wasn’t that it was hard to fly, just… a little different and harder to fly then when up in space. Although this becomes more pronounced when you are trying to fly through canyons and stuff.
I think I’ll steal some bigger ships, or ones with more pronounced wings, and see how they do. Logically, I’d expect the fighter aircraft that are more aerodynamic to handle better, but I have no idea of they actually implemented things to that degree yet, or even have plans to.
Oh, one more thing that I noticed that amused me, was that when the ladder on my 315p extends and hits the ground, it actually pushes the ship up a little bit on it’s landing gear’s shocks.

I quickly scanned for known suicide gankers just then.
That undock moment when you have a billion ISK of things you got at Jita …

I got one for you. Transiting Jita, in your capsule. With a head full of expensive implants.
Gave it a try.
My scrub pc couldn’t handle it. [1070 GTX, i7 6850K, 64GB, Windows 3.11 for Workstation]

I like how the first thing you do after waking up is start lowering settings because it runs at like 3fps.
I like the Pipboy, but oh my god the endless submenus.
Was that early ship that lifted-off from the landing pad controlled by a player? I was wondering if you’d get incinerated by the lift thrusters, guess that’s where the simulation stops short… luckily!

Not sure, was wondering the same when I walked behind it.
Took me ages to find my own ship, as you’ll soon see :)

Holy hell, they need to paint lines on the floor from the control room to the various landings pads! They’re all over the place.
The station look is very reminiscent of Doom 3 to me, except with fewer creatures and much better lighting. Star Citizen needs monster closets.
Helps if the ship I spawn actually spawns at the correct platform I would assume :-) They had some numbers in the ceiling, but it wasn’t a logical “1,2,3,4,5…” system… didn’t appear to be anyway.
Trying to navigate the map using the pipboy was… troublesome to say the least, not helped by the tutorial screen overlapping the map.
Monster closets would be awesome. Also lacked lore items on the ground I could read, Doom did that better.
ALso, Flashlight.

You have to go back to the control room to manually select the track ship feature? The Pipboys should have the option of doing this without that hassle, in my opinion.
Yea, I figured there was an option to do it in pipboy, but didn’t see one. Normally (I would assume) when you spawn your ship at the terminal, you’re told where to go and you get a little waypoint on your screen. When I spawned it on C10 it didn’t actually spawn, so I got to spend 10 minutes running around looking for it. When I respawned it, it was ‘tracked’ correctly to C9 immediately.
I like how my ‘center’ screen in the RSI Constellation is a big ****ING metal frame blocking my view.

You finally arrived at platform C10 on my screen. I didn’t know you could own Wonder Woman’s jet in this game. 😂
Rewatching my ‘stream’ and I realize that the Keybindings screen need a SEARCH Function, considering there are like 2.000 options.
@Kerzain: Lol at invisible jet :-P

It’s not supposed to be sequential, it’s supposed to model the actual system that was in use in spaceships at that time. Everyone knows that.
Nice video. I was toying with the idea of digging my account out of the Kickstarter soup from 2012, but I see it likely wouldn’t work well on my setup.

I didn’t know what you were looking for, but I was happy to see a Cycle Camera button, I wonder if it goes to third person ship view.
Any idea what your infraction was for? Was it clipping that other ship, or maybe not clearing the lauch space area fast enough after launching?
Think I hit the landing pad as I exited because the ship moved in a different direction than what I thought, and due to the framerate I didn’t have enough time or react quick enough to adjust for it.
Should probably have just hit spacebar to go “UP” instead of forward.
Was looking for a button to get the landing gear up… as the ship seemed to move so incredibly slow.

It might move forward slowly, but man, it maneuvers hella fast for something that size.
I absolutely love that one of the first thing you did was start shooting at the Comm Array. Those are going to take so much abuse from eager players wanting to try their new shit.
I think 170 million dollars was spent just figuring out how to squeeze in more key bindings.
Heh, you can’t get close enough to the comm array to actually appreciate the way it looks without being warned off for being too close.
Haha, RAMMING SPEED.

You shouldn’t need to do anything to track your ship. As soon as it spawns, it shows up on your HUD.
In terms of the pad placement, it actually does have a logical layout, in that they are oriented in a circle on the outside of the station kind of. You pretty quickly learn where to go to get to them… basically one of two doors.

Yeah, this is generally the way to take off. Be advised, there is a bug where it sometimes desyncs from the server, and you won’t move when you do this. It usually resolves itself… but if you aren’t ready for it, it can take you by surprise when it finally takes off.
Usually, I hover up a bit, aim out of the station, then accelerate out.
With a crappy frame rate though, I suspect it’s gonna be virtually impossible to deal with.
Lol… I just watched the stream. Signs, dude! Read the signs!
I’m so glad you guys are enjoying the game!
