Star Citizen - Chris Roberts, lots of spaceship porn, lots of promises

But the judge gave CryTek the opportunity to refile it with better wording. That’s a very important distinction, in comparison to the other claims.

They were never going get punitive damages anyway. It’s one of those things where lawyers throw in everything in a claim to see what sticks. It’s the diff between $10 and $1000. But when you’re a crowd-funded project which relies on public funding, and you’re almost insolvent, even $10 damage award is bad news.

Epic Games v Silicon Knights and Bethesda v Oculus are good case studios of where this is going, and how damaging it is for CIG/RSI that the judge didn’t toss all of these claims.

But none of this matters. Discovery is what scares CIG the most.

Oh yeah I’m sure.

My thread has concluded

And here’s a completely different take on that ruling from some people on reddit that seem far more optimistic toward CIG than derek’s take. :)

tl;dr: Big Win for CIG!

In this case, CIG has not sold either SQ42 or SC, because the transaction is not complete.

Since punitive damages and “exclusive license” are out the windows, the discovery process will probably be trimmed down significantly.

Wise words, wise words indeed…
To be fair, there are more reasonable thoughts there.

That’s not how discovery works.

I thought the /s was implied, those two quotes make no sense whatsoever. It’s appalling, but not surprising, that most of the comments want to rejoice at CIG maybe weaseling out of the entire spirit of the contract, maybe even with intent from the start. And, really, that’s not the type of company you want to pre-order from years in advance, is it?

I dunno, I got in early on their Bridge program, with a great deal on a span in Brooklyn.

Yeah, we know those guys. They were the same ones who were saying that Crytek had no case, that the judge was going to toss it all, that the MtD was powerful and that Jesus H. Christ himself owns JPEGS.

We just lol at them.

I was fond of this “IP attorney” (hint: he’s no such thing)

LOL!! At all. Those clowns are a few raisins short of a fruitcake.

Now edited, updated, revised, and in a nice article form. Including an entire section on their shocking financial statement over in the UK

This is a nice little teaser snippet, when does the full 100k word article get posted?

I waiting for clearance :)

It’s great that we have memories like this because once Crytek file their incoming and inevitable injunction against this vaporware travesty, this is as close to a game - of any kind - that we’re ever going to see.

I don’t know them, but I think they’ve taken all of Chris Roberts’ talks about “suspension of disbelief” to a whole new level.

A quote from an old childhood Christmas story comes to mind:

“…and visions of sugarplums danced in their heads.”

I dozed off reading the ruling, and I don’t play a lawyer on TV either, but good catches on some of those details.

BREAKING! Crytek have now filed a second amended complaint that solidifies their claims. They specifically went for what I wrote that they would as per 2.4.

It’s funny - and I’m not even a lawyer.

I will have more in a bit.

I mean, even the Judge suggested they file this so I don’t think you get to claim this one :)

I find the title of this thread (“lots of spaceship porn”) totally relevant to the ongoing sales of ships to propel this project. It’s almost like @TurinTur had some clairvoyance…
