Thing is, I don’t have to be objective at all. But funny enough, I bear that in mind with each article that I write.

Unlike Leinad, I didn’t mean it as an insult - objectivity is hard to measure without all the facts, including what you actually know and don’t know. I was just trying to say your doubts, jabs and sarcasm being as harsh as they are didn’t originate out of sheer pettiness.
To put it another way, I don’t know very much about you and wouldn’t think to make an opinion of you as a person out of how you’re dealing with this.

He received a lot of flak because he made poor (and buggy) games noone cared about and still thinks he is the Sid Meier of space sims (or an expert on tech related questions in the 2010’s). He is the last person on earth who should run such a campaign BECAUSE it’s kind of obvious that his objections come from his ego and not because he cares about people being exploited or even the game industry at large (he isn’t Jim f’cking Sterling).
Let’s be honest here, he isn’t a voice of reason, he is a fanatic at the other end who makes it impossible to discuss (including sensible critisism) this game in an actual meaningful way and his shameless self promoting of his content/community is groan worthy at this point (and only serves to grow his own personal brand).

I just installed the PTU and got to check out the game with 3.3 on it, and it’s pushing 60 fps now, although that framerate is not nearly stable. It’s tanking down into the 20’s at times. That being said, there are also a ton more folks running around the station than I ever saw previously.

At some point maybe I’ll see if I can make another video of my antics in space… maybe I can find some new ways to steal other peoples’ space ships.

I watched Obsidians stream. So sure I am aware of all the issues with this game and as you can see its still practically unplayable. However and its a big however, the sense of scale in the ships and environments is superb. Well worth skipping around his live stream for some of the cool moments. (51:56 is a good place to start)

FOIP is awesome. I’ve been watching SC videos by BoredGamer and it’s glitchy and funny. But it also gives his avatar a lot more character.

It’s definitely feature creep and not required for release. I’m with you on that.

But those avatars smiling and wiggling their eyebrows at you are funny. So I’m personally looking forward to meeting users with the feature enabled in game.

Watching/reading current reports, the most recent PTU patch (3.3o, released yesterday?) is a bit of a lemon with lots of desynchronization issues and stuff that didn’t happen in the 3.3n patch which was, from what I hear, quite a bit of fun.

So you might want to give it a few days to settle and for the current weirdness to be addressed.
