Star Citizen - Chris Roberts, lots of spaceship porn, lots of promises

Given my age, I’m starting to wonder which will die first, me or this scam. I’d really like to be around for the entertainment value of the collapse. Anyone have any ideas?

On that note, how many wills will turn out to bequeath money to Star Citizen? I’d guess…3. Their unofficial estate planning rep can probably get you a planet for that.

Or how many wills bequeath their Star Citizen “property” to beneficiaries? I am reminded of the photo of the divorced couple dividing up their beanie babies in the courtroom:

I don’t usually think a picture can say a thousand words, but man, that picture says “…and you were wondering why the United States ceased to be a hegemon? Let me show you…”

That picture also says…‘just in case you were wondering why you were being divorced.’

Reminds me of a Kickstarter for some futuristic breast pump that I was following - many people put money into it but it had been years of delays and no product released. Comments were along the lines of “I invested before my first child was born and I’ve already had two kids and this pump has still not been released.”

My friend’s fiance is building a $10K PC to play Star Citizen on.

Wait. There were hot dog stands in Planetside? Man, I loved that game but I never knew about the hot dog stands. Must have been some dirty Smurf or Barney trickery.
Terran Republic forever!

To have targets for your ship to fire at?

Hey, by the time it’s released, $10k will be like $1k in today’s money.

By the time it is released Al computers will be part of your clothing, forming a seamless whole that is always connected.

Or subdermally implanted.

Or both.

Server meshing solved!

So its going to have a RTX3060ti in it? :D

Ugh… tell him to build two $5k PCs instead. There’s absolutely nothing a $10k system could get you that a $5,000 5950x/3090/128GB system couldn’t. Hell even that system would probably be beat by a 5950 64GB system because you could clock the memory faster. You could build a 64 core threadripper but it would have worse performance in games.

I guess if it’s one of the few games still supporting SLI you could have two 3090s. Literally the only way I can think of to go above 5k.

I hope he has a stupid amount of money because $10,000 to build a PC today to play a game that hasn’t released for over a decade sounds pretty stupid.

Our brains are the most powerful servers yet!

It’s pretty amazing because Star Citizen is one of the few games you could pick to spend that much money on a system and still have terrible performance because the game won’t scale up with more power.

A real fan would buy a $3.6k computer and a Dominus Pack with their $10k (as a stepping stone to a Praetorian Pack obviously)

How do you speed up JPEG purchasing?

Crobbers is missing an opportunity not minting his own crypto currency to go along with Star Shitizen.

The problems with the tech demo cannot be solved by a more powerful PC.
