It could have been my perspective, but it seemed like there was more discussion about when the game would release, and potential release seasons/years, and the roadmap for the roadmap for release or something like that. They would at least be talking about releasing something.
But now it’s just “Alpha 3.17 in six months or so,” and no mention of anything after that.
Even amongst the faithful in the SC flock, I never hear anyone talking about an actual “final release.” At least not related to the game.
They stopped pretending a release or anything resembling one is coming a couple of years ago. SC is what you get here now and they accepted that. And if anyone finds that hard to believe, just consider politics. Once they join a cult, people will question reality itself before questioning the nature of their cult.
They found out years ago that they could stop bothering to provide any real schedule for when things will be done and just let the fans dream up their own versions.
They just have things like this:
Maybe after a decade they will have the “first version” of an actual multiple server instance together. But even that has the provision that more versions will be needed.
They have just realized that they don’t need to do anything except make up new ships to keep the money flowing in so that’s about all they bother to do.
They could always have the roadmap as a subscription service…
I mean, they basically already did that. They have subscriptions have various ‘perks’ but are also supposed to fund the creation of several of their update shows which is where they show off all their amazing progress.
When is this coming for consoles?
The PS3 version is on the roadmap for 2026.

Not sure if this is posted elsewhere here, but reading it made me think about SC. And yes, it talks about elevators!
Anyone have any trouble with the installer for this thing? I tried checking it out over the free week, but it won’t even install on my laptop. Installer keeps crashing, always at different points during the install.
It’s an i5-9300H, 16GB RAM, GTX 1650, 512GB SSD, so it should be good. Once it actually did install, but then kept crashing when trying to start the game.
For shits and giggles, I also tried it on my nearly decade old Win7 desktop, and it runs! Very poorly, but at least it installed and ran.
Making games is understandably difficult but it’s not fair to give SC a pass when it’s a failure of project management at CR’s level.
