But if we’re flying through sectors at a faster rate than other teams as you indicate, we are relying on randomness to earn our gems because we won’t be able to grab the leftovers. We have a much better chance of uncovering a gem that is not our color, so you guys can just scoop them up in our wake.

Speaking of which, Dave, I’ll leave the shiny yellow jewel behind but I will switch out my Flak Bot with the Scrap Bot

Okay!

Thraeg is in Sector 03 and his ship Plum Forgot has these upgrades:
o Scrap Bot: (1x) Swap upgrades with an opponent who you have just defeated.
o Sabotage Bot: Reduces (by 1) the points earned by each other player who shares your final sector at the end of the game.
o Psychic Lifeform: Adds 5X authority to your score at the end of each match, where X is the number of Psychic Lifeforms equipped by your entire team.

His ejecta is now floating in Sector 03. Not a euphemism.

I know what to do about it. I’m going to change it back to where I had it in the first place!

Green’s Super Goal: On your last turn, you hit the enemy’s HQ for at least 50 damage.
Green’s Basic Goal: On your last turn, you hit the enemy’s HQ for at least 30 damage.

I need scores on all games, please.

I think 25 damage is the sweet spot for the basic goal, personally, but I accept your decision.

Done! Delirium’s ejecta is floating in Sector 02. Post 2 has a list of ejecta.

It’s just that, like scott said, damage comes from all colors, not just Green cards, whereas discards only come from Yellow and scrapping only comes from Red and healing only comes from Blue. I don’t think we thought this through quite well enough when we started, so I hope my reversal on the goals doesn’t cause any squeeing. I’m open to further discussion!

As for the Green team being a better team than any other, they are 8-1 so far, so I’d say so far, they are the best team! In any team format, some team might be dominant. You do your best and if it ain’t enough then maybe next Season will be different…

I don’t vote against changing the green goal. Although I don’t think the goals are easy. I managed 1 basic goal so far, not too impressive .
The biggest advantage for green that I see: you don’t have to rely on your color only. All colors can deal dmg, while only yellow can discard cards for example.

Dark Star upgrades its bridge to a Headquarters – at least, for now! Beatrix sends his ship to the jump point.

Beatrix is in Sector 02 and his ship Dark Star has these upgrades:
o Boosted Scope: Add 5 authority to your score at the end of your final game of each match.
o Headquarters: At the end, boost (by 2) the points earned by each team member in your final sector.

SR15:

Mithrophon over fire +30/-13 = +43
Thought I was going to win, then got worried when fire’s blue deck kept erasing all my damage, but then finally pulled it out. Scrapped only 3 starter cards, so no goals hit, but happy to get the W over a quality foe.

Well, 30 damage is a lot, especially since we’ll likely have to spend some of that on blasting through outposts. I achieved the basic green goal in my 2 wins, but I don’t think I had would have had it in either game if the goal was 25. Also, the conditions were made clear from the start and still only 3 people picked green, but now people have a problem with it being too easy?

You may be right, but only if what you assume about how distance traveled impacts the final scores turns out to be right… I don’t know how distance traveled matters. I know that it will, but not how it will.

Excellent points.

Maybe raise it to 25, Dave, and see what happens?

The problem is that we don’t have a control group… How much of this is the skill of the green team’s players vs. the ease of the goal (which, as articulated well by Holsten, can be achieved using any color cards)?

SR 14 individual playoff: holsten > Lykurgos 19:-5, difference: 24

The early arc worked for me, nothing you could have done about that. GG

It’s not like there was some massive outcry at this being a problem. :)

I’ll switch it to 25 and take your word for it!

Green’s Super Goal: On your last turn, you hit the enemy’s HQ for at least 50 damage.
Green’s Basic Goal: On your last turn, you hit the enemy’s HQ for at least 25 damage.

So another thing which is obvious now: weaker players should on no account play best-of-threes. If you assume you’re going to lose most of those series, because you’re the weaker player, you will never win the final game, and only the final game counts for upgrades! If you do manage to win some of the games in those series, those wins will count for nothing.

Dave, this is why I said at the outset that you needed a different rule for how you will determine upgrades in best of threes vs. single game matches. Simply applying the single game rule to the last game of the serious doesn’t work.

The points for distance traveled are in the rules.

Saying that your interlocutor made a stupid choice doesn’t negate their argument.

Yes, of course, thanks!

The best of threes are only to get people more games. I didn’t want to make people play best of threes to get some kind of reward for it. I see what you’re saying, though, about weaker players being more likely to lose a best of three, etc. If your intent is to win games, then you definitely don’t want to play best of threes vs better players. But I think most folks here are just happy to play more games.

Anyone who wants to switch back to 1 game from best of threes is totally welcome to!
