Beatrix heaves his mothership from the gravity well and from its snout it spits out a PLANET CRACKER. The pudgy bomb slams into Dave’s command ship and the solar system collectively gasps. As far as the citizens are concerned, each general has 50 authority left!

Is steam the only way to buy the events?

Remember to keep track of your own pew pew results, and only count games vs those who have declared themselves IN.
It appears that they’ve moved the Windows/Mac client to Steam. If you’re using a non-mobile device, it’s Steam only.
If you’re on iOS or Android, you can buy the events through the mobile client as usual. Make sure you’ve got the latest version, then start a new game. When choosing sets, touch the lock icon over Events. (I couldn’t find any easier way to get to it.)
I can confirm that if you buy on the mobile version, you can do Restore Purchases to also get Events on your Steam copy. Presumably the other way around works as well.
Yeah - I had paid for Events from the phone. Finally figured out that I had to ‘Play for Free’ on steam to get it to add to my library (and remember my SR password). Now only 3 more computers to go…

Game 3 report
Beatrix passes on the Patrol Mech on his first turn, taking a Supply Bot instead. My fleet is thrown off guard by this mind-blowing maneuver! I lose several ships to “gawking” and “gaping”.
Dave’s Flagship slips out of N-space and engages Beatrix’s fleet! A Brain World hovers nearby, unclaimed. Both fleets maneuver towards it…
Beatrix converts a Space Station and Explorer into the Brain World! Dave’s fleet attacks it but to no avail. Dave’s deck is getting pretty sexy fast, and this is his only hope now. Nearby are an available Dreadnaught, Battlecruisier, and Megahauler!
A glorious turn of events! Beatrix’s fleet appears in a haphazard formation, its foray toward the powerful ships rebuffed. He settles for two Explorers.
But Dave’s Flagship leads a counterattack that not only secures the Megahauler, but also reduces Beatrix’s authority in the system by 12. The Brain World may be his foe’s only hope now!
The Brain World isn’t quite functional, and Beatrix is unable to knock out Dave’s Fortress Oblivion. While Beatrix diverts forces to the World, Dave deploys a Battle Station and a Defense Bot, who adds 8 bonus power. Kablam! Beatrix’s authority suffers a 10 point hit and he falls below 30. Dave’s hovers at around 50. The solar system is making its choice!

With a concussive effect that knocks asteroids out of orbit, the Brain World comes online! It mangles two Scout ships and turns them into a Dreadnaught. Dave’s fleet attacks the Brain World but cannot dent it. It survives into the next round! This is truly terrible.
Dave’s Megahauler, at least, does its part, pulling in a Battlecruiser that will destroy the Brain World next round.
