I appreciate how this week’s episode walked that fine line of the captain’s actions leading to hijinks but she also wasn’t portrayed as incompetent. Sometimes tech maintenance just gets crazy
Yeah, it was also fun to see Freeman geeking out about a thing.
Also Ransom’s an art critic? Hilarious.
Also, this week’s Move Along Home parody almost made me not to skip that terrible episode on my next DS9 rewatch. Almost.
Yeah, I’ll stick to enjoying Lower Decks having fun with bad storylines of the past rather than going back to rewatch those. The Voyager episode had a bunch that I didn’t remember and I’m happy to largely leave them that way.
I loved the sight gag of the bad sculptures being literally mirror images of the supposed good ones.
Yeah! Killed me.
"It is obvious to the most simple-minded that Lokai is of an inferior breed. "
"The obvious visual evidence, Commissioner, is that he is of the same breed as yourself. "
"Are you blind, Commander Spock? Well, look at me! Look at me! "
"You’re black on one side and white on the other. "
"I am black on the right side. "
"I fail to see the significant difference. "
"Lokai is white on the right side. All of his people are white on the right side. "
It’s been a long time. From the dialog you quote there, I take it this episode of TOS was using these dudes (supposedly in conflict) as a metaphor for strife between racial groups?
Yep. TOS subtlety at its best, but for the day a sci-fi show addressing this issue was daring. The “mirror image bad” reference reminded me.
I quite enjoyed this week’s episode, although I suppose one could argue it was a bit silly even by Lower Deck’s standards.
Does anyone know the rank of the new Vulcan officer? She seems to have some sort of a bar, which doesn’t match any of the regular Starfleet ranks.
Is there a loose cannon rank?
It’s the same rank as the Marqui had in Voyager
Apparently “provisional officer”. I believe they refereed to her as “provisional lieutenant junior” in the episode with the supercomputer, but I can’t be bothered to check.
I really loved the two Samuel Clemens bit. And the fact that they have so much fun with the Orions.
Fun episode! Orion stuff was awesome, Clemens was a bit ridiculous even for LD in the latter part. :)
We were watching it last night and when they were interacting with the ship in the junkyard my girlfriend asked me kind it was. “I think it’s a Raven-class, like Seven of Nine was in as a kid.”
Checked on Memory Alpha after the show, and yep. God, I’m a Trek nerd.
