I like the first season more than the last season, which had bad romance among other schlock.
Though my teenage self didn’t think it was that bad.
In which season did Dr. Crusher bang the ghost? That one was right up (down) there with Spock’s Brain.
Season 7, which was mostly the “let’s throw these last shitty ideas at the wall and see what sticks” season. It did have some fantastic episodes, but WOW did it have some weird ones as well.
Season 1 is at least interesting because they hadn’t really figured out what the show was going to be yet. They would fire all the writers every couple episodes, so you never what you’re going to get.

That and a whole lot of other things. If y’all wanna watch a fun documentary about why the first two seasons of TNG were so horrid, check out Chaos on the Bridge, which is still on Netflix. It’s really great.

Season 4 is actually the height of the series if you ask me. The first two seasons are so awful, and the Season 6-7 swoon so obvious, that DS9 always grabbed me as more consistently entertaining of the post-TOS series. Though, TNG at it’s best, probably topped DS9 at its best. But it is a near run thing.
Yeah, I can’t recommend Chaos on the Bridge enough. It’s amazing that something so good could come out of what began as such a dysfunctional workplace.
Ditto. One of the best documentaries I’ve seen. Really lays out reasons for the Season 1-Season 2 awfulness.

Season 4 is fantastic, but I’m all about season 3. The Defctor. The Hunted. Booby Trap. Yesterday’s Enterprise. Best of Both World Part 1. The Most Toys. Soooooo much goodness.
