Going to start downloading this and putting up a TS3 for fun and profit.
Please shoot me a Qt3 fleet invite: Mysterio@GrimmReaper
I think I’ll give this a try over the weekend. I’ve always been half interested in seeing the game, and I guess now is the perfect time!

Invite please: Jagg@jagged1
OK then - it’s Aubrey@divedivedive.
Tresor@charmtrap needs an invite. At least, I think that’s how the naming works…

Wow, this game turns out a lot more fun than I thought it would.
Playing SW:TOR’s beta close to release I lasted a whole of about 20 minutes before I yawned in proclamation that this is same-old, boring and tiresome, subsequently quitting.
However, in STO I was sucked in for a good five hours and I actually started reading the dialogue boxes and taking initiative to run around and explore areas needlessly…mainly because they were simply open to me for me to go and roll around in.
I have to admit, this is the first time in ages where I’ve felt a little lost when jumping into an mmo. I played for a couple hours last night and I really like what I’m seeing, but there are so many game systems that you need to figure out its a bit overwhelming.
Gundabar@shellfishguy72 I think is correct, if not its Gundabar@shellfishguy
That whole main quest thread ‘the klingon war’ or whatever they call it, is a ton of fun.
This is a big problem that I have with the game. There are dozens of stats (especially having to do with your ship’s systems) that are completely unexplained. I got an engineering console last night from a PVE encounter that had as it’s stats “+10 Particle Emitters”, which is great. Except there is no Particle Emitter stat, and nothing I can find on the wiki or the documentation refers to Particle Emitters at all!
Also, there are apparently skills to waste skill points on that have literally no in-game effect at all (Starship Subsystem Repair, for instance). It’s a real problem in a game with so many stats.
Pogue and Shellfishguy invited.

Explore areas needlessly, now that just sounds like pure fun to me.
All I need is to get into an MMO right now after shaking the WoW habit a few years ago, but I love Star Trek in general and you guy’s are making it so tempting…ahh too weak, downloading now.
Particle Emitters is a skill.
Go to your skills pane. You have a big matrix of skills that can be quite confusing. However, if you select one of your crew skills from the dropdown at the top, it will highlight what skills affect that skill.
There shouldn’t be any skills that don’t affect crew skills at all anymore, however there might be skills that affect crew skills that you don’t have because you’re science vs engineer or whatever and you don’t have any crew members with those skills.
Ahhh, that is a helpful UI hint, thanks.
