:O
the sexah! I’ll be getting mine later tonight. :)
OH SHIT. That thing is sleek.

Got mine on my Fed and Klingon.
It’s hard to convey how frickin’ huge this thing is. I was parked next to a Sov at DS9, and the Sovereign looked like half the size.
At the same time, she’s slightly less maneuverable than a Sov. She’s also built like a tank. Can take a ton of damage before going down.
Is there any reason to get anything but the anniversary box for Q’s quest? I mean I got a ridiculously good armor from the mystery box (worth 500k+ on Exchange), how do the other 2 rewards match up to stuff like that?
i got the party popper MK 2, on all of my new toons, its good for a laugh. I’ll go for the mystery box the next few chances I get 20 hours from now.
My 3 main characters. :)
Lt Cmdr Cullen , Operations Officer.

Vice Admiral Melani , Command Officer.

Vice Admiral Rob, Science Officer.

Does the party popper actually do anything then? Other then make pretty colours that is ;)
Well hell, I’ve gone and bought the CE on Amazon, so thanks you very little for stealing what little of my life I have left!
But seriously, you guys have really got me interested in this. So where is a good guide for a STO noob?

I got a stupid 1 hour skill bonus.

There isn’t one and the tutorials are shit. The best you can hope for is to slog through it a bit and eventually understand what is going on.
For reference, the noob board on the STO forums is actually helpful:

If you need gear, mission or misc info about the game, the Wiki is pretty good* http://www.stowiki.org/Main_Page. I liked using the Mission walkthroughs when I get stuck.
*Most of the Wiki info is pre-F2P so while a majority of the info is still valid, things that changed in F2P may not be reflected yet.
I’ve found this Guide of Guides to be pretty helpful, really. There’s some good info there.

The best place for info on game mechanics used to be The Engines Cannae’ Take It! blog. But it hasn’t been updated in several years, and I don’t know how much the game mechanics have changed since then.

It used to be a good guide, but too much has changed, especially in the skills area. I wouldn’t refer to it.
The good thing is there really is no need for a ‘perfect’ build or equipment. Pretty much everything will get the job done and ‘wiping’ means (in the traditional sense) a 7 second timer and a close respawn. Once you get a hang of the mechanics, you will be doing very little dying.
This is, for that reason, a great game for casual, low frustration threshold, gamers. Like me. Log in, get something done, log out.
Clicking on the Mission icon opens up a display showing hourly events going on (which highlight one aspect or another of the game along with special events), ques for PvE raids and PvP maps, along with other options like currently available missions and missions in progress.
This kind of easy access design isn’t great for immersion, something a big sprawling game trying for internal consistency can pull off - LoTRO comes to mind and Eve Online is an even better example, but it is cool for people just wanting to jump into an MMO and do something fun or productive with a minimum of fuss and muss.
Ah, had to refresh my DS9 memory (that ep is 14 years old now, yikes).
Basically the invasion fleet during the Dominion War that disappeared in the wormhole. Got it.
Also, the bit in the trailer where the dude in the space suit spins around head-over-heels for no apparent reason just because there’s a battle in the background made me laugh.
So I can’t find “Quarter to Fleet” in the Fleet list anywhere. I also noticed the ones listed appear and disappear at various times. Does someone from the fleet have to be online for it to be listed? If not, what am I doing wrong? In the wrong shard? Wrong server? It didn’t offer me a choice in the latter.
Anyway, went through the tutorial again, managing to get past the information overload of all the various things that can go horribly wrong by playing the various missions and learning through failure. “Oh right, THAT is what a Science Officer is going to be needed for!” But I’m still at the “how in hell do I fit this new bit of console equipment to my ship” stage.
I’m “krayzkrok” in the game obviously, and I’m running around in the U.S.S. Gavialis. I might even post a screenshot of it at some point, not that you’re interested in my basic tin can after those last few that Woolen posted. Space ship envy!
