Looking for some help from the veterans!

Why aren’t there tooltips on your ship buffs/debuffs? Sure, I can target myself and then mouseover for them, but that’s annoying. How do I see tooltips on the little icons above my shield display while in space?

Also, while in FPS mode on the ground, there’s no cursor. So how do you trigger your bridge officers’ abilities? For that matter, how do you interact, short of hitting the F key?

I think you may be the only person who remembers that there is a FPS mode in ground combat, heh. I think everyone sticks with third person, where you do have a cursor.

I noticed that with the tooltips on your ship buffs. I can’t remember if they used to work, but it seems like a bug to me.

I find the FPS mode to be far more fun then the other option. I mean the ground combat is awful enough as it is, and it’s not like MMO combat is hugely fun in the first place.

I use the FPS mode too and you just have to use the keyboard shortcuts for your abilities. I have three rows of icons and they’re mapped to the number keys or alt+ number and Control + Number.

Oh well, just me that forgot FPS mode ever existed.

I don’t use it. It’s just not worth the hassle to me and it doesn’t make combat any more or less exciting, IMHO.

Tooltips on ship debuffs/buffs did use to work. That’s something else that got broken along with autoattack.

Hell, I’d take just being able to access the duty officer assignments in your current sector.

I’ve found the best way to max out my daily duty officer assignments is to start off at Starfleet Academy, then beam up to Earth Starbase, then beam up to your ship, then if you haven’t filled your 20 active mission slots, warp out to Sector space, in a 5 minute window of time I can easily fill all 20 mission slots.

I must have some damn fine luck, the 2 duty officer packs I got today (free from ESD and SFA) both had a blue duty officer in them, I fist pumped a hell yeah!

I’m Kris@hockosi and would like to join the fleet.

I made sure I got to level 5 and got in on the Odyssey class starship. I’ve also investigated the ability of a turbolift to travel sideways. I should have known.

I’ll send you a fleet invite later today, if you have’t been invited yet.

My Engie character is 4 levels from Captain, I am quite excited to get my hands on a Galaxy Class Starship. :D

I’ve also amassed around 15 million EC’s across my 3 main characters, and could probably make another 10 million by selling the Aegis sets I have in my bank. I also am hoarding around 5 million EC’s worth of rare minerals/particle samples.

Do we need another bank slot? Maybe we should sell off excess low level gear and just toss them credits into the bank? I’d be all for a bank slot just for excess minerals and particles.

Also if you guys need anything crafted, just hit me up and provide the resources, and I’ll make whatever gear you want. Mk3,Mk5,Mk7,Mk9 rare (blue) gear is usually the best bang for the buck as it doesn’t need any of them special dilitium resources.

Rumor has it the C-store update on 2/9 will have the special +1 version of the Odyssey Class ship along with its Klingon counterpart. I think I might get it for my Federation Engineer.

The Galaxy turns like a dead whale, trapped on a beach full of other dead whales, but I did really enjoy my time with it.

Likely a dumb question -how can you tell if you’ve been invited?

smut@starfighter33 - hit lvl 7 last night, woot! This work thing is cutting into my gaming though…

There are consoles that help the Galaxy with turning but, generally, I don’t really sweat it. I focus on shields, lots of them, rather than turning to meet attacks on fresh flanks and then I focus on rearward firing weaponry. Wear the suckers down, coming at me, with phaser banks, then let them follow behind me while I bean 'em with torps. For major targets I just fire up my Tactical Officer abilities to jack my DPS and burn them down before they can hurt me too much.

Yeah, with the Galaxy you should have a nice selection of beams and a torp on both ends so turning shouldn’t be much of an issue usually. It it nice to be able to get yourself angled for a broadside against some of the harder ships though (I guess Evasive Maneuvers might cover you there).

Escort Retrofit is an offensive beast. A single alpha strike will strip shields and take off half the hull. Set up for another pass and the ship is toast. I just don’t like flying it, the 45 degree angle required for the cannons means most of your time is spent lining up for the right shot. (this is using the optimalescort config)

Unfortunately a Tac in a Cruiser is gimped. I can finish off waves of ships in a fraction of the time with the Escort over a Cruiser. Which is why I would recommend Engineer to anyone who wants to start new.

My character is built for ground so without the DPS and maneuvering boost you get from space skills I do far better in my cruiser. I can pinch hit as an off-tank, off-healer (repairer?) and fairly decent DPS boat. Soloing is a breeze too. But it’s in ground combat I do best.

Hey all! I’m Kheldas@blueoctopi if there’s any room in the fleet.

I went a little nuts on cosmetic stuff…

Nice shots Malcolm!

So I made LCDR, go and grab my free Cruiser, go to customize it and accidently bought a second cruiser. WTF? My own fault I guess, but for those that were complaining about how LOTRO implemented their store, at least it is more obvious when you are buying something. But this is a fairly minor bitch.
